Job Description

The Risk Oversight Intelligence and Automation Lead provides independent technology risk oversight across Digital, Systems, and Cybersecurity Risk Oversight (DSCRO). This role combines analytical capability, automation expertise, and sound risk management judgment to identify emerging and aggregate risk signals across technology risk data, programs, systems, and processes.

This is a technology risk oversight role, not a technology or data science production role. The core deliverable is an informed risk judgment: understanding what an analytical pattern means for risk, materiality, and risk reduction, and translating that judgment into clear oversight opinions and actions. Statistical models, automation, dashboards, and other analytical tools support that judgment; they are not the end product.

The role will identify trends, correlations, control gaps, and emerging risks across technology risk oversight, cybersecurity risk oversight, records, tools, and automation. The individual will develop and enhance analytical and workflow capabilities that improve the consistency, efficiency, and visibility of the oversight function while maintaining appropriate independence and alignment with 2LoD standards.

Success in this role requires risk management aptitude and strong communication skills alongside technical and analytical ability. The ideal candidate can move comfortably between executive-level discussions, detailed analytical work, and deep dives into technology solutions. They are curious, comfortable with ambiguity, willing to challenge existing processes, and able to translate complex findings into practical business and risk decisions.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent technology risk oversight assessments across relevant DSCRO risk domains in accordance with 2LoD standards.

  • Identify and evaluate emerging, aggregate, and thematic risk signals across technology risk data, programs, assessments, issues, audit requests, changes, and related oversight activities.

  • Apply risk management judgment to determine the significance, materiality, and potential risk reduction associated with analytical findings.

  • Translate statistical and pattern analysis into clear risk narratives, oversight opinions, escalation recommendations, and actionable risk reduction opportunities.

  • Design and apply analytical methods to identify correlations, trends, anomalies, and emerging risk signals using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and business intelligence platforms.

  • Develop and maintain automation, monitoring, reporting, and workflow solutions using tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Python, and ServiceNow.

  • Build intelligent processes that improve the tracking, aggregation, and visibility of technology changes, risk issues, audit requests, assessments, and remediation activity.

  • Design dashboards and reporting tools that support risk aggregation, monitoring, executive decision-making, and independent assessment work.

  • Evaluate proposed AI/ML-enabled tools and use cases for technology risk oversight, governance, control, and oversight implications.

  • Lead or contribute to thematic analysis and other initiatives that support DSCRO oversight opinions.

  • Partner with 1LoD technology and business teams, peer 2LoD functions, data teams, and other stakeholders to align on risk data, metrics, reporting standards, and business priorities.

  • Identify gaps in existing processes, data, controls, and technology solutions, and recommend practical improvements.

  • Manage multiple high-impact initiatives while balancing near-term delivery with longer-term maturity of risk data, automation, and oversight capabilities.

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, influence outcomes, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Mentor and develop team members and establish appropriate continuity and backup plans for critical processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Typically more than six years of applicable experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing complex data, identifying meaningful patterns, and communicating conclusions to decision-makers.

  • Experience in technology risk management, IT governance, audit, compliance, or another independent oversight function, particularly within a regulated financial institution.

  • Demonstrated ability to build or apply statistical and pattern-detection methods, such as regression, correlation analysis, trend analysis, or anomaly detection, using Python, R, SQL, or similar tools.

  • Experience translating analytical or quantitative output into materiality assessments, risk narratives, oversight opinions, and risk reduction recommendations.

  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, 2LoD principles, and technology risk disciplines.

  • Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, ServiceNow, or similar reporting and automation platforms.

  • Proficiency querying, transforming, and interpreting data using SQL and related data tools.

  • Experience working with databases, data models, data lakes, data integration, process modeling, or technology risk data.

  • Exposure to AI/ML governance, model risk management, emerging technology risk, or evaluation of AI-enabled use cases.

  • Understanding of systems development life cycle, application architecture, testing, implementation, and technology change processes.

  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to bridge technical, business, and risk priorities.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, overcome resistance, and produce results with limited direction.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strategic, curious, collaborative, and action-oriented approach.
