Software Infrastructure and Release Intern (Summer 2027)

Description

 As a Software Infrastructure and Release Intern your core responsibility will be to design, implement, and maintain our spacecraft flight software and ground software deployment environments. You will work closely with software and GNC engineers to plan out and implement an automated deployment and test system for a variety of spacecrafts and test platforms.

*This internship is 12 weeks long from May/June to August/September of 2027


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Software and GNC teams to develop and improve our build, test and deployment git CI pipelines. 
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues related to Hardware in the Loop systems, including hardware, software, and test setup. 
  • Utilize test automation tools and frameworks to streamline software build, test execution, data collection, and result analysis. 
  • Bring up monitoring and data analysis in support of a continuous integration and release system. 


Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field  
  • Experience with Linux operating systems. 
  • Experience with  CI/CD tools (e.g. Gitlab, Github, etc). 
  • Knowledge of the git version control system and gitflow.
  • Experience in Bash, Python, and/or other scripting languages.


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc). 
  • Experience with build systems (e.g. Make, CMake, Bazel, etc). 
  • Experience with cross-platform development, source development kits, and deployment pipelines. 
  • Knowledge of logging, monitoring, and alerting capabilities using tools (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, etc). 
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills. 
  • Organization capability with ability to handle competing priorities. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills.
Additional Requirements: 
  • Willing and able to work on-site in Redondo Beach, CA, for the duration of the internship 
  • This position may require overtime hours; interns are eligible for overtime pay.
Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
