Description
ADDMAN Engineering produces production components using selective laser sintering (SLS) at our Ontario, New York facility. The SLS Operator is responsible for machine operation, material handling, and part breakout within an established quality system. Prior additive manufacturing experience is not required; structured on-the-job training and formal qualification are provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up, start, and monitor builds on SLS equipment in accordance with approved work instructions and travelers.
- Perform pre-build verification of machine condition, powder level, and material identity prior to each build.
- Handle polymer powder including weighing, sieving, and blending to the approved refresh ratio, and maintain lot identity and labeling on all containers.
- Perform cake removal, part recovery, and powder reclaim within designated containment areas.
- Verify parts against the job sheet and drawing, and identify and segregate nonconforming or questionable parts for review.
- Complete build logs, powder transaction logs, traveler sign-offs, and ERP transactions accurately and at the time of work.
- Maintain the assigned work area to established 5S and combustible-dust housekeeping standards.
- Transfer identified parts and associated documentation to the Finishing department.
- Escalate machine alarms, process deviations, and abnormal conditions to the SLS Technician.
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person citizenship status.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, interpret, and execute detailed written work instructions.
- Working knowledge of basic mathematics including weights, ratios, and percentages.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to perform data entry in a manufacturing system.
- Manual dexterity sufficient for handling small and thin-walled components without damage.
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test and receive medical clearance for respirator use.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on feet for the duration of a shift.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in additive manufacturing, powder coating, foundry operations, composites, or another powder- or dust-controlled environment.
- Experience working under ISO 9001, AS9100, or a comparable quality management system.
- Experience with Epicor or another manufacturing ERP system.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Industrial manufacturing environment. Safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear are required throughout production areas.
- Regular exposure to airborne polymer powder and particulates. The ability to work in these conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation, is an essential function of this position.
- Respiratory protection is required for designated powder-handling tasks. The ability to be fit-tested for and wear a respirator, with or without reasonable accommodation, is an essential function of this position.
- Work in proximity to elevated-temperature equipment and components.
- Standing and walking for extended periods; frequent reaching, bending, and crouching, including access to build chambers and breakout enclosures.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, including powder containers and build frames.
- Vision sufficient, with or without correction, to inspect components and surfaces for defects.
