JOB SUMMARY:

The Electrical Service Technician is responsible for the repair, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical work. This person will work with the Electrical Service Manager and the client to maintain the client's electrical systems. This person will also work with the HVAC technicians and the HVAC controls group to assist with any electrical installations. In addition, this person will be trained and assist with IR thermography of electrical equipment.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to manage electrical projects, repairs, or installations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and their components.
  • Have a good understanding of the National Electrical code and the NFPA.
  • Interact with owners and client representatives to develop and maintain productive, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Be willing to learn how to use an IR camera, Ultrasonic testing equipment and perform electrical preventative maintenance duties.
  • Submit all documents and paperwork for projects, when needed.
  • Submit and accept daily work orders over a mobile device.
  • Ability to order necessary material and pick up material, if necessary.
  • Support the sales team in their efforts to develop new or additional contracts and projects with customers.
  • Make recommendations to the Electrical and Operations Manager on all matters affecting service operations.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of this role.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Service Technician.
  • Experience working on commercial sites and working in educational, governmental, or industrial facilities; minimum of 5 years' experience preferred.
  • Experience with IR cameras is preferred, but not necessary.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of Electrical service industry
  • Good understanding of the NEC and the NFPA
  • Proficient user of Microsoft office suite; highly proficient in the use of Excel and other software used in the service industry
  • Excellent mathematic skills in order to perform the duties of this role
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written); must be able to effectively relay information to various audience groups, including clients, managers, leadership, colleagues, and business associates; must be able to prepare professional written communications (emails, documents, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with individuals internal and external to the company and from various backgrounds
  • Strong leaderships skills; ability to direct, train, and supervise others; ability to motivate and develop others, manage performance, and foster a collaborative team environment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Work is performed mostly in commercial settings. Some outdoor work is required for the installations of electrical work at client locations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to drive to and from business appointments and job sites within a company van.
  • Must be able to climb ladders to access equipment.
  • Must be able to operate lift equipment to reach electrical work at various heights.
  • Must be willing and able to open electrical equipment and visually inspect operation, subject to proper training and safety requirements.
