Description

We are a fast-growing, boutique multi-practice law firm specializing in real estate transactions, estate planning, and corporate governance. Following substantial growth and a strategic firm acquisition, we have expanded our footprint across the New York metropolitan area, anchoring our primary operations in a newly acquired, custom-built facility in the Bronx, alongside satellite offices in Manhattan, Staten Island, and Westchester County. Our firm combines the agility and close-knit culture of a boutique practice with the high transaction volume and commercial energy of a rapidly scaling enterprise. We prioritize operational autonomy, direct client relationships, and entrepreneurial initiative, providing our attorneys with a supportive, high-momentum environment where personal productivity and firm growth go hand in hand.

We are seeking an experienced, autonomous Real Estate Associate Attorney to take full ownership of our active transactional real estate caseload. In this position, you will serve as the operational anchor of our real estate practice, stepping directly into an established, high-volume pipeline of active files so firm leadership can focus on continuous business development and client acquisition. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-directed attorney who thrives on running their own desk without day-to-day micromanagement, enjoys direct collaboration with lenders, brokers, and clients, and wants to participate meaningfully in revenue upside through a performance-driven fiscal partnership model. This role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring three days per week on-site at our primary Bronx office, with flexibility for remote work and occasional client meetings across our broader New York office network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Autonomous File Management: Assume complete, end-to-end responsibility for a high-volume pipeline of residential and commercial real estate transactions from initial retainer through post-closing.
  • Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale contracts, riders, amendments, and related deal documentation with precision and efficiency.
  • Title Clearance: Examine title reports, identify encumbrances, liens, or title defects, and work proactively with title underwriters, municipal authorities, and counterparties to resolve clearance issues.
  • Closings & Representation: Prepare all closing figures, closing statements, and transfer documents; represent buyers, sellers, and institutional lenders at real estate closings across the metropolitan area.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the direct, primary point of contact for clients, real estate brokers, mortgage lenders, loan officers, and opposing counsel to ensure smooth, transparent deal execution.
  • Cross-Practice Collaboration: Coordinate as needed on matters touching estate administration, family property transfers, or corporate entity structuring and governance related to real estate holdings.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Licensure: Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active, good-standing admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of dedicated transactional real estate law experience in a law firm setting (high-aptitude candidates with 2+ years of intensive transaction processing will also be considered).
  • Self-Direction: Proven track record of independently managing high-volume transaction files with zero requirement for hand-holding.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Outstanding client-facing skills, professional polish, and the ability to cultivate trusted relationships with referring brokers and lenders.
  • Technical Savvy: High proficiency with modern practice management platforms, document automation, and digital office tools.
  • Mobility: Active driver’s license and personal vehicle access, with willingness to travel between office locations and closings as necessary.
  • Practice Area Add-ons (Valued Pluses): Prior exposure to estate planning, probate property sales, or corporate governance/closings.
  • Portable Business: While not required, an existing referral network or modest portable book of business ($100,000–$200,000+) is strongly welcomed and directly incentivized.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 commensurate with experience and independent file capacity, with flexibility up to $160,000+ for candidates with a portable book of business or senior-level processing efficiency.
  • Fiscal Partnership & Bonus Structure: Lucrative, formula-based revenue sharing model. Attorneys earn a dedicated percentage (e.g., 15%) of collected revenue generated above baseline productivity thresholds, providing a realistic earning potential of $200,000 – $250,000+.
  • Work Schedule: Hybrid arrangement (typically 3 days on-site at our primary Bronx hub, 2 days remote/field).
  • Professional Growth: Clear pathway to long-term fiscal partnership and firm leadership within an expanding organization.
