Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform signal integrity simulations for high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes) beyond 100+ Gbps, including S-parameter extraction, channel analysis, and eye diagram / BER evaluation.
Build and run 3D electromagnetic models of interconnects, connectors, and PCB structures and correlate simulation results against lab measurements.
Support PCB material selection, stack-up definition, and layout reviews of critical high-speed signal paths from an SI/PI standpoint.
Contribute to IBIS-AMI model simulation and equalization analysis for channel performance.
Design and execute calibrated lab measurements (VNA, oscilloscope), including de-embedding and time/frequency-domain analysis.
Use scripting for data analysis, modeling, and lab automation.
Document simulation and test results and present findings to cross-functional hardware, layout, and systems teams.
Leverage modern AI/LLM tools to increase development and analysis effectiveness.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, or a comparable field.
Minimum B2 in German and fluency in English.
Solid grounding in electromagnetic theory, transmission line theory, and high-frequency circuit behavior.
Exposure to signal integrity concepts: S-parameters, impedance matching, crosstalk, loss, and noise.
Familiarity with 3D EM or circuit simulation tools through coursework or project work.
Programming skills for data analysis (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a systematic, independent way of working.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on lab experience with RF/high-speed test equipment (VNA, oscilloscope, BERT, spectrum analyzer).
Exposure to high-speed digital standards (PCIe, Ethernet, …).
Familiarity with PCB design/EDA tools.
Coursework or project experience involving high-frequency PCB design, modelling and characterization.
Please note - this program starts in July 2027.
