Description
As a Design Engineer in Valin’s Process Systems Group, you will support customers and sales teams by designing and implementing process heating solutions. You will act as the technical bridge between customers, suppliers, and internal teams, helping deliver high-performance systems for industries like industrial processes, oil & gas, semiconductor, datacenters, and advanced manufacturing.
In this role you will:
- Partner with sales engineers to support customer-facing technical discussions and solution development. This includes periodic customer site visits and domestic travel.
- Provide a technical interface for the customer in heating and freeze protection applications. This includes heater sizing, circuit requirements, controls configuration and commissioning guidance.
- Translate customer requirements into engineered solutions, bills of materials, and proposals.
- Design and layout heat trace circuits, industrial control panels and thermal controls using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD based on customer requirements and drawings.
- Configure and program thermal control components using vendor tools.
- Work closely with suppliers to select and apply the right technologies.
- Create and maintain manufacturing bill of materials, assembly CAD documentation in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, control configurations/programs as necessary and test procedures.
- Support the full project lifecycle: pre-sales (design/quoting) to post-sales (troubleshooting/commissioning).
- Provide technical training and support for customers and internal teams.
- Stay current on process heat and freeze protection technologies, competitor products, and market trends.
- Contribute technical expertise to marketing content and product positioning.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven process heat, power distribution and control experience.
- A strong understanding of heater and heat trace circuits, component sizing, thermal controls, AC and DC power distribution and electrical control panel design.
- SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD and MS Office experience is necessary.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Fundamental programming and configuration knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with thermal control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation preferred.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., C++, Python, .NET) is a plus.
- Experience in semiconductor, biotech, or high-tech manufacturing environments preferred.
Work Environment:
Combination of office work and customer/site visits, with hands-on involvement in system testing and troubleshooting.
