About the Role
The Software Engineer 3 is a senior individual contributor who leads the design and delivery of complex, production-grade systems spanning multiple components. This role influences architecture, guides implementation, and raises the engineering quality bar across the team while remaining hands-on in critical areas.
You will work in a high-ambiguity environment, partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and make thoughtful trade-offs across scalability, performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and delivery. You will also apply an AI-first engineering approach while retaining accountable human judgement for every outcome.


Key Responsibilities
•    Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of complex features and systems across multiple components, from problem framing and technical design through deployment and production support.
•    Own system-level technical decisions and ensure solutions align with established architecture, engineering standards, product goals, and long-term platform direction.
•    Turn ambiguous business and technical problems into clear requirements, design options, delivery increments, and measurable acceptance criteria.
•    Evaluate and communicate trade-offs across scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, security, cost, and delivery speed.
•    Design resilient, observable, and well-tested systems with clear data flows, failure handling, recovery behaviour, diagnostics, and operational ownership.
•    Ensure secure handling of PHI and PII through strong access controls, validation, data protection, and adherence to healthcare compliance requirements.
•    Use approved AI tools to accelerate design, implementation, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and validation, while critically reviewing and owning all generated outputs.
•    Set a high engineering bar through thoughtful code and design reviews, automated testing, production-readiness checks, refactoring, and continuous improvement.
•    Guide implementation, resolve complex technical blockers, and mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
•    Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Quality Engineering, Security, Cloud Operations, and other engineering teams to build alignment and deliver dependable outcomes.
•    Communicate complex technical topics clearly to engineers, business partners, and leadership; create concise design documents and decision records.
•    Use logs, metrics, traces, test evidence, and production data to validate assumptions, diagnose issues, and improve system health over time.

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
•    Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
•    Strong hands-on programming experience in one or more modern languages such as Java, C#, Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
•    Demonstrated experience designing large or complex systems spanning services, APIs, user interfaces, data stores, integrations, or pipelines.
•    Strong knowledge of API design, distributed-system fundamentals, data modelling, performance, reliability, failure scenarios, and secure engineering practices.
•    Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, source control, observability, production troubleshooting, and operational readiness.
•    Ability to lead technical discussions, write clear designs, influence decisions, and build consensus across differing viewpoints.
•    Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices beyond individual feature delivery.
•    Sound judgement when using AI-assisted engineering tools, including validation of correctness, security, maintainability, and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience building SaaS products, enterprise platforms, or high-volume transaction systems.
•    Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform, containers, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native architecture.
•    Experience with healthcare technology, payer-provider workflows, EDI transactions, or systems that process PHI and PII.
•    Experience working with globally distributed product and engineering teams.
•    Experience improving system reliability, performance, observability, developer productivity, or cloud cost efficiency through measurable outcomes.
