Role Overview
As a Technical Delivery Manager in the Google Operations Center, you'll play a critical role in overseeing the development and delivery of our essential internal tools and applications. You'll collaborate closely with engineering leads, product managers, and stakeholders across Google to define project scope, manage timelines, mitigate risks, and ensure successful execution. Position Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership: Manage and develop a team of Team Leads. Provide regular coaching, mentoring, and performance management to elevate their leadership capabilities and support their career growth.
Workflow Oversight: Serve as the focal point of contact for internal and external project queries, ensuring that the team’s actions remain in synergy with broader business goals.
Strategic Alignment: Ensure the development teams' work aligns with the overall strategic goals and roadmap of the Google Operations Center. This includes understanding the big picture and translating it into actionable plans for the teams.
Cross-Team Coordination: Work with domain experts, SWE, UX, and PM to translate project requirements into technical tasks.
Risk Management and Mitigation: Proactively identify and assess potential risks that could impact project delivery, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
Dependency Management: Identify and manage dependencies between different projects and teams, ensuring that roadblocks are removed and projects are delivered efficiently.
Process Optimization: Continuously analyze and improve development processes, workflows, and tools to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall team performance. This could involve implementing Agile best practices, refining communication channels, or introducing new technologies.
Minimum Requirements
Experience: 12y+ in technical project management, with a focus on maintenance & core development with multiple dev models like agile / scrum / waterfall.
People Management: 7y+ people management experience involving performance management .
Strong Experience in Project Planning and Scheduling, Team Coordination, Stakeholder Management, Risk Management, Resource Management, and Quality Assurance
Excellent organizational skills to track project / scrum timelines, roadmaps, and deliverables.
Strong Experience in end to end Software Development Life Cycle
Experience with multiple full lifecycles from Design & Architecture through Development, Testing, Deployment and Debugging production issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong experience in SQL, Regex, database concepts.
5y+ experience using GIT based continuous integration & delivery
Experience with Cloud Computing platforms such as GCP, Azure, AWS
Experience in Middleware development/design (remote procedure call based, publish subscribe based, etc…)
