Summary of Job Duties:

The 12 Month RN Instructor shall be responsible to the Dean of STEM & Nursing and the RN Program Director.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Plan for and conduct classes as assigned by the RN Program Director. Faculty will be expected to meet each class for the full duration of each scheduled class period.
• Maintain office hours to assure availability to students. The instructor’s scheduled time on campus, including scheduled class sessions, should total to a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Serve as advisor for assigned students. Meet with advisees to determine class schedules, plan course of study to ensure students graduate in a timely manner, and refer student to the proper personnel for counseling, financial aid, etc.
• Maintain skills and knowledge within the area of nursing. Attend and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Maintain sufficient student records to support grades assigned in all classes taught; submitting grades in a timely manner as required by the Registrar's Office.
• Complete required reports, including but not limited to the Departmental Assessment Report and Faculty Self-Evaluation, within the prescribed time frame.
• Create and maintain a syllabus for each course taught, submit for Dean’s approval and placement on file, report revisions as made.
• Assist in the development of the departmental and review, select, and recommend textbooks and/or other materials needed for each course taught.
• Assist in the development of the RN Practicum schedules and providing leadership for the clinical experience as requested.
• Attend college functions as requested by administrative officers (graduation, open house, etc.).
• Assist the Program Director with State Board of Nursing Program Reviews as requested.
• Serve on standing and/or ad hoc committees as assigned by the administrative officers.
• Serve as advisor for student organizations within the department (if applicable).
• Actively cooperating with the Advisory Committee for his or her program (if applicable). Faculty are expected to incorporate Advisory Committee feedback as appropriate.
• Demonstrate consistent professionalism with students and peers.
• Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Unencumbered Arkansas Registered Nurse (RN) license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience as a teacher or trainer
  • Prior experience is higher education
