Description

Under administrative direction of the CHHS Director of Simulation & Digital Health, the Clinical Learning Specialist collaborates with faculty, clinicians, simulation personnel, instructional designers, and rural healthcare partners to develop evidence‑based simulation activities, support competency development, and ensure high‑quality simulation experiences for learners at all levels. The position provides instructional expertise, oversees curriculum and learning resource development, and supports evaluation and quality‑improvement processes within simulations.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide supervision of students within the simulation lab setting, assist the students to accomplish clinical learning objectives (70%)

  • Understand the course and/or simulations and clinical lab objectives of the course(s) and/or simulations to which they are assigned to provide clinical instruction and be familiar with the overall academic program curriculum

  • Travel with and/or drive mobile simulation unit to various sites in and around rural New Hampshire to provide outreach, workforce development, and simulation training opportunities

  • Provide supervision of students within the simulation lab setting and ensure learning of safe, quality patient or client care in a positive and supportive learning environment

  • Assist the students to accomplish the clinical lab learning objectives defined by the course

  • Facilitate clinical simulation lab experiences for each student in the clinical lab group(s) for which they are assigned consistent with course and clinical objectives.

Evaluate Student Performance (20%)

  • Evaluate students' clinical lab practice and provide feedback to students on their accomplishment of clinical objectives.

  • Collaborate with course faculty in student remediation plans if necessary.

Guide students in their growth in the relevant health or social care profession (10%)

  • Validate students' understanding of theoretical, scientific, and evidence-based practice to support safe and effective care

  • Assist the students to learn clinical decision-making and clinical judgment skills, develop competency in the execution of clinical skills and foster good communication skills with patients, clients, families, and other members of the health or social care team. 

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Master's degree in nursing, allied health, education, public health, or a related field; and two years of experience providing clinical education, instructional support, or direct clinical care; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in clinical or rural healthcare settings is beneficial.

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Unencumbered professional licensure or certification in a clinical field (e.g., RN, LPN, paramedic, allied‑health credential)

  • Valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong clinical expertise in nursing practice

  • Effective teaching and communication skills and ability to facilitate student learning in clinical settings

  • Skilled in student evaluation and feedback

  • Proficient in clinical documentation and electronic health records (EHR)

  • Ability to model professional behavior and ethical practice

  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence

  • Ability to collaborate with academic and clinical partners

 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and support training logistics as needed. Occasional travel required.

  • Background check (to work with minors)

  • Motor vehicle records check (to drive university-owned vehicles

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing or delivering clinical curriculum or competency‑based assessment.

  • Familiarity with simulation‑based instruction or interprofessional education.

  • Experience working in rural or underserved healthcare settings.

Compensation Pay Range:

$47,920.00 - $85,410.00
