- Provide independent counsel on the full range of employment-law matters - employment contracts and recruiting, employee benefits, discrimination and harassment, and wage, hours, and working conditions - quickly assessing issues and giving practical, actionable advice on an ad hoc basis.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for EMEA employment matters, identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risk across the region and advising business partners on risk-mitigation strategies to reduce the company's exposure.
- Partner with Human Resources to recommend, implement, and continuously improve employment-related policies and procedures, embedding best practices for the HR team and employees.
- Monitor legal, regulatory, and legislative developments affecting employment across EMEA, and work with business stakeholders to translate changes into updated procedures and policies.
- Support HR in conducting internal investigations as needed, providing legal guidance to ensure they are thorough, fair, and defensible.
- Education: Law degree from a reputable and accredited institution
- Qualified lawyer with 10 years of employment-law experience, ideally spanning multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
- Deep, practical knowledge of employment law across employment contracts, benefits, discrimination and harassment, discipline and grievances, and leave and absence matters.
- Proven ability to assess and mitigate legal risk independently and advise senior stakeholders.
- Strong HR-partnership skills and a track record of shaping employment policy.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and the local language of the jurisdiction.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
- Good judgment, a high degree of professional integrity, and the ability to maintain confidential and highly sensitive information.
- Ability to interact confidently with colleagues and adversaries, and to translate difficult legal principles into practical business solutions.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and drafting skills, with the ability to gain respect and influence others.
- Ability to operate autonomously across a multi-jurisdiction region.
