Part-Time Veterinary Assistant

Description
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, procedures, and patient care
- Safely restrain and handle dogs, cats, and other veterinary patients
- Prepare examination rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies
- Assist with patient intake, discharge, and routine patient care
- Monitor hospitalized and recovering patients and promptly report changes or concerns to the veterinary team
- Provide compassionate care, comfort, and attention to hospitalized patients
- Assist with collecting, preparing, and handling laboratory samples as directed
- Clean and sanitize kennels, examination rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and other hospital spaces
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe patient-care areas
- Stock supplies and assist with inventory management
- Maintain accurate patient records and follow hospital protocols and safety procedures
- Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other team members
- Support the overall workflow and daily operations of the veterinary hospital
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience in veterinary medicine, animal care, kennel, shelter, boarding, or a related animal-care environment
- Comfortable safely handling and working around dogs, cats, and other animals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative veterinary team
- Willingness to learn and follow veterinary safety, handling, and patient-care procedures
- Ability to work in a busy, physically active veterinary hospital environment
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician Assistant
- Experience with animal restraint and handling
- Experience with veterinary patient care or assisting with veterinary procedures
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and electronic medical records
- Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or animal clinic
