The Opportunity

As the Executive Director, Health Solutions Product Management, you will lead a team of product managers, experience owners, and related product professionals responsible for defining and executing product strategy, roadmaps, and lifecycle management in a complex, highly regulated environment.

You will own the P&L for Medicare Supplement, USAA's flagship health insurance offering, ensuring business objectives are achieved through disciplined expense management, profitable growth, and an exceptional end-to-end member experience. A key aspect of this role is leading at the intersection of product, technology, and business strategy, partnering closely with Information Technology to deliver innovative, scalable solutions that meet member needs.

Leveraging your ability to influence across a matrixed organization, you will also collaborate with leaders from Marketing, Finance, Risk Management, Legal, Operations, and Distribution Sales and Services to deliver industry-leading products and business results. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully relaunching, growing, and scaling businesses while driving innovation and profitability.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in the following location: San Antonio, TX.

What you'll do:

• Manages the P&L and supports efforts to ensure business plan expectations are achieved with a focus on growing Membership and driving profitability.

• Reviews and manages the product set (feature/functionality) for appropriateness of financials, marketing strategy, market competitiveness, Member Experience, regulatory compliance, risk management, as well as efficiency of operation and technology delivery.

• Accountable for ensuring applicable regulations related to product line of business are adhered to and associated risks are mitigated.

• Role models USAA's mission, core values, culture and desired behaviors - including a sound risk and compliance culture.

• Develops talent to deliver risk-conscious performance and results - including the identification, development and retention of talent with requisite capabilities, banking regulatory skill requirements and continued advancement of banking regulatory standards.

• Partners with General Manager to develop and provide product performance reporting to senior management that is inclusive of USAA's performance as well as industry benchmark data.

• Works collaboratively with key stakeholders to deliver an industry leading product offering that drives strong profitability growth across USAA.

• Optimizes product mix, leveraging segmentation to drive profit, Member satisfaction, and retention.

• Manages plan for growing products through the creation and implementation of an effective segmentation strategy, including product profitability, service standards, and lifecycle management.

• Holds responsibility for communicating the product value proposition to Distribution organization.

• Ensures product team delivers sales support to all distribution channels (e.g., .com, mobile, contact center) so that the product is properly positioned to customers (sales tool and collateral development, sales training, etc.).

• Manages 3rd Party Relationships (IT, 3rd products, and alliances).

• Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.

• 10 years of relevant experience as a Product Management, Digital Transformation, Data Science or Visualization leader for products/platforms, from strategy to market, to ongoing improvements within the Financial Services industry.

• 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.

• Understanding of product P&L and high level of fluency in MV (member value) and ROI drivers; demonstrated track record in balancing product priorities against budget and timelines; a sense of urgency in driving execution; entrepreneurial spirit and excitement of developing products from an early stage.

• Highly analytical with experience leveraging different types of data to form hypotheses, test those hypotheses and ultimately build a recommended strategy.

• Strong strategic thinker with track record of developing and implementing strategies that thoughtfully consider and balance industry and competitive dynamics, customer insights and commercial implications.

• Comfort with ambiguity and a rapidly changing dynamic environment; thrives in fast-paced environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communications; ability to influence without authority, working on/with technical and cross-functional or highly matrixed teams who do not report into this role to get things done.

• Understanding and demonstrated application of Agile methodology.

What sets you apart:

• Demonstrated success leading large-scale technology platform or system migrations, including influencing cross-functional business and technology transformations.

• Proven track record of leading and influencing cross-functional teams and executive leaders in a complex, matrixed organization.

• Experience with Medicare Supplement (Medigap) products and the regulatory landscape governing those products.

• Proven leadership experience in Product Management, including leading product managers, experience owners, or comparable product roles.

• US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

• MBA or other relevant advanced business degrees preferred.

• Relevant certifications, such as AIPMM or eCornell product management, Human Centered Design or SAFe Agile.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $169,880-$305,780.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
