About the role:
The Area Phone Business Manager will drive PayGo phone sales and manage a network of commission-based agents within a defined area. The role owns agent recruitment, training, and assist; daily sales delivery; repayment quality; and inventory discipline; translating the phone business strategy into on-the-ground results in a fast-paced, device financing market. Success requires your ability to influence and convert the Area's Sun King agent network into a productive phone-selling strength, field execution, deep local market insight (urban and rural), and disciplined use of data.

The Area Phone Business Manager will drive PayGo phone sales and manage a network of commission-based agents within a defined area. The role owns agent recruitment, training, and assist; daily sales delivery; repayment quality; and inventory discipline; translating the phone business strategy into on-the-ground results in a fast-paced, device financing market. Success requires your ability to influence and convert the Area's Sun King agent network into a productive phone-selling strength, field execution, deep local market insight (urban and rural), and disciplined use of data.
What you would be expected to do
- Agent Acquisition & Development - recruit and onboard news agents from the open market and influence existing Sun King agent base to become phone selling agents. Ensure Litmos Phase 1 certification within 2 weeks; run biweekly table meetings to coach and shape their mindset and regular refreshers; enforce branding and sales standards.
- Sales & Productivity - deliver monthly unit targets; drive average agent productivity (units ÷ engaged selling agents) as the primary outcome; monitor portfolios weekly, follow up low performers, deploy micro-incentives; coordinate with Marketing on field activations.
- Portfolio & Collections - own quality of sales; coach on quality customer onboarding; weekly follow-up on defaulting customers through agents; manage FPD and PAR30; partner with Credit & Operations to minimise repossessions.
- Agent Engagement & Retention - defined weekly field-contact routine (visits, ride-alongs, coaching); track exit reasons and run retention actions; monthly recognition of top performers; engagement calls to inactive agents.
- Inventory & Compliance — maintain agent stock within variance tolerance; monthly audits and reconciliation; track all stock movements; accurate weekly reporting by deadline; zero tolerance for unethical practice.
- Compliance & Reporting — Submit accurate weekly reports by deadlines, Ensure full compliance with Sun King policies and documentation, Zero tolerance for unethical practices or misrepresentation.
You might be a strong candidate if you
- Hold an HND/BSc in a business-related field with 2+ years of hands-on field sales experience.
- Have PayGo, device financing, or agent-network experience (solar an advantage, not a requirement).
- Know the assigned territory and its trade routes.
- Are disciplined with data and reporting.
- Good relationship-building and field execution; deep local retail market knowledge (urban and rural).
- Digital literacy; CRM, Looker, stock tools; strong communication and problem-solving.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the designated area.
