Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our full time day Oncology Registered Nurse (RN), you will help our patients receive specialized and compassionate care for complex oncological conditions and related medical illnesses, so they can experience the best possible outcomes and quality of life during their treatment journey. 

Every day you will administer chemotherapy and biotherapy, monitor telemetry, and manage a diverse patient population within a busy 30-bed unit. You will be expected to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including Case Managers, Social Workers, Chaplaincy, RT, PT, Pharmacy, and the Palliative team, while maintaining a patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5.

To be successful in this role you must possess a strong foundation in acute medical-surgical nursing, be adept at handling complex oncological conditions, and be eager for continuous professional growth within a challenging yet supportive environment where senior staff actively mentor new team members.

• Assessment: Performs total body and system assessment each shift/visit according to unit standards.
• Care of Patient: Including planning, implementing, evaluating and educating.
• Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned unit.
• Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
• Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors. Recognizes, accepts and cooperates with direction from facility leadership.
• Precepting/Mentoring: Participates in orientation of new staff, ancillary personnel and mentors students in a constructive and positive manner. Serves as resource to staff from other nursing departments.

Job Requirements

Required

 

• Current CA RN licensure.
• Current BLS from the American Heart Association.
• One (1) year RN experience in an acute care hospital. Recent acute care medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Successful completion of Chemotherapy Biotherapy: Fundamentals of Administration within 6 months of hire.
• Successful completion of the ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy certificate within 18 months of hire.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
