Job Description

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist residents when placing orders from the menu.
• Provide beverage service, including water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee, and tea.
• Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after each meal.
• Report any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
• Demonstrate an understanding of sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
• Maintain a basic understanding of food preparation, including salads, desserts, and other menu items.
• Demonstrate knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
• Attend all required in-service training and staff meetings.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.
• Remain attentive to the special needs of residents, including mobility limitations, memory impairment, and other individual care needs.
• Assist with tray service as needed.
• Follow confidentiality policies and procedures regarding the release of resident information.
• Interact with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors in a polite, respectful, and considerate manner.

Requirements

• Must wear a clean, designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
• Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
• Must possess the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles to assigned duties.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
• Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
• Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods of up to three (3) hours at a time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and carry heavy objects up to 20 feet.
• Must be organized and willing to work effectively with other team members.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
