Job Summary

The Cyber Security Analyst Co-op will support the Cybersecurity team in the day-to-day operation of existing security solutions and assist with identifying, investigating, and responding to security incidents. Incidents may be detected internally or escalated by team members, our managed detection and response (MDR) provider, or other third parties. Additional tasks may include assisting with the implementation of new security solutions and contributing to security documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring existing security solutions to ensure effective operation
• Identify, investigate, and report on network security vulnerabilities and severity
• Review logs and reports from security tools, workstations, servers, and network devices to detect unusual activity
• Maintain awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats, tools, and best practices
• Participate in the deployment and configuration of new or enhanced security solutions
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of security policies, standards, and procedures

Key Qualifications

• Enrolled in post-secondary studies in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Interest in cybersecurity trends and technologies
• Experience with security tools (e.g., Fortinet, Microsoft Sentinel, Palo Alto, Proofpoint, Qualys) is an asset
• Knowledge of Windows/Unix systems, Active Directory, Azure AD, and mobile device management is an asset
