Location: This position is located off-campus at the Worcester County Extension Office in Snow Hill, MD on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Position Summary/Purpose of Position: Under the supervision of the County Extension Director (CED) and with support of the 4-H educator, this position performs a variety of technical duties to carry out the teaching, demonstration, and other educational and outreach activities in 4-H, and assists with other programs such as educational programs, youth camp, the County Fair, 4-H achievement events, promotional events, and assisting with clubs in close partnership with the 4-H educator. The individual is self-motivated and should meet and communicate with the Worcester County 4-H educator on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the 4-H Educator in developing, implementing, and evaluating educational outreach programs that promote Worcester County 4-H Youth Development.
- Plan, organize, and deliver a variety of youth outreach programs, including: afterschool programs, in-school enrichment programs, community events, fairs, festivals, and partner programs, workshops and educational classes, day camps and summer programming, special interest and short-term educational programs, etc.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of 4-H youth members and adult volunteers.
- Assist with the development, management, and support of community 4-H clubs.
- Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, communicating with partners and collaborators, preparing educational materials, and organizing supplies.
- Assist with teaching educational programs and collecting evaluation data to measure program impact.
- Help plan, organize, and implement countywide 4-H events and activities, including: Achievement Banquet, fair preparation workshops, life skills development workshops, recognition events, other countywide 4-H activities
- Deliver educational presentations and facilitate discussions at club meetings, workshops, trainings, conferences, and community events.
- Respond to internal and external requests for information related to Worcester County 4-H programming.
- Assist with program reporting, data entry, recordkeeping, and compliance documentation.
- Manage and update social media platforms, website content, and other outreach and marketing materials.
- Organize and maintain educational resources, program materials, and office supplies.
- Work collaboratively with community organizations, schools, and partner agencies to expand youth development opportunities.
- Provide administrative and operational support for the Worcester County 4-H Youth Development Program.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Extension programming and county office operations.
Preferences:
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends regularly as most 4-H programming occurs outside of normal business hours.

Physical Demands of the Position:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Nature of the Position: This position frequently presents information through vocal and written communication to individuals of various ages, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds.
- Physical Demands: A routine part of this position's responsibilities would be to transport materials to and from teaching and event locations, including loading and unloading the vehicle. The employee will frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds. Set-up and teardown of displays, tables, and chairs would be necessary at many teaching sites.
- Environmental: Team driven, office environment of professional character, competence, and collaboration. Deadline driven in terms of program planning and reporting. This position requires the employee to work outdoors at certain times of the year, especially during the time field research, demonstrations, and meetings are conducted as well as annual county fair. This may occur during very hot and/or inclement weather.
- Visual Acuity: Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduation from High School (or GED)
EXPERIENCE: Five years' experience performing a variety of duties in support of the teaching, demonstration, and advising work of Extension agents or in community outreach, health care, research, or social services programs.
OTHER: A non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license valid in the State of Maryland.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Working knowledge in the assigned area of specialization such as food and nutrition, housing, horticulture, soil nutrient management or youth programs. Skill to plan and carry out details of projects with general instruction. Skill to make arithmetic calculations, analyze data and draw conclusions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill to establish and maintain successful working relationships. Ability to lift and transport supplies and equipment. Ability to operate manual and automated office equipment and personal computers.
OTHER:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
