C Tech Mechanic

The Opportunity

Are you ready to turn wrenches, learn from some of the best in the business, and play a crucial role in keeping our fleet road-ready? As a C Tech Mechanic, you’ll be a key player in our shop. Working alongside experienced lead mechanics and shop leadership, you’ll help inspect, maintain, and repair our fleet of Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) heavy-duty vehicles.

What You’ll Do (Your Day-to-Day)

• Keep the Fleet Rolling: Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, tire service, oil changes, and basic brake adjustments to ensure our trucks remain safe and compliant.
• Inspect & Diagnose: Work with senior mechanics to inspect steering mechanisms, engine components, brake systems, wheel bearings, and hydraulic systems.
• Get Behind the Wheel: Test drive trucks to help diagnose issues and verify that repairs are 100% complete and road-tested.
• Master the Tech: Connect diagnostic software to read codes, assist with troubleshooting, and log your daily work orders in our shop system.
• Learn & Grow: Actively participate in hands-on training and development programs to sharpen your skills and prepare for your next step as a B Tech Mechanic.
• Keep it Clean & Safe: Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work space while adhering to all OSHA, DOT, and GFL safety standards.

What You Bring to the Team

• Hands-on Experience: At least 1+ year of entry-level mechanic experience or vocational/technical training in heavy equipment or diesel systems.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of PM routines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and brake operations.
• Growth Mindset: A strong desire to learn advanced diagnostics and take on more complex repairs over time.
• Tech Literacy: Comfort using computers or tablets to log work orders and navigate diagnostic software.
• CDL Advantage: A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred—or a willingness and ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire (we’ll support you along the way!).
• Certifications: ASE certifications or state inspection licenses are a big plus!

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs, and climb, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods during shift routines.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic shop environment with heavy equipment.
