Our client, a leading luxury resort group in the Maldives, is seeking an accomplished Director of Finance to lead and elevate the resort’s financial operations. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Functions as the property's strategic financial business leader. The position champions, develops, and implements property-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of customers and property employees. The position provides the financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the service strategy and initiatives while maximizing the return on investment. In addition, creates and executes a business plan that is aligned with the property and business strategy and focuses on the execution of financial and accounting activities and the delivery of desirable financial results of each Resort Accounting Department to meet daily needs of the operation.
- Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
- Guides and supervises to prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with international accounting standards, uniform system of accounts for the hotel industry, and generally accepted accounting principles, in accordance with company policy, local law, and regulations
- Guides and supervises the preparation of periodic internal and external reports, the Annual budget, and other financial reports as required by the Chief Executive Officer/Owners.
- Ensures adequate systems of internal control to safeguard the assets of the Company effectively and to ensure that all transactions are properly reflected in the accounts and records of the Resort.
- Oversee and supervise to ensure that clearly describes, assigns and delegates responsibility and delegated for the effective operation of the accounts sub-departments, such as Accounts Receivable and Payable, General Cashiering, Income Audit, Payroll and Cost Control, Night Audit, Chief Cashier, Outlet Cashiers, Retail, Computer systems, Stores and Receiving, Credit and Purchasing.
- Executes the provisions of any management agreement or operating lease agreement.
- Coordinates with the Company legal department on the negotiation, execution and delivery of operating contracts and agreements for the Company.
- Make sure timely preparation, filing and payment of all government taxes, as appropriate by all properties.
- Oversee internal, external and regulatory audit processes.
- Implements effective control measures for all costs; food, beverage, labor, supplies, equipment, etc. Ensures proper use, maintenance, repair and storage of accounting supplies, equipment and facilities. Ensures proper stock levels are maintained.
- Assists all Managers in establishing and achieving predetermined profit objectives and desired standards of quality, service, safety, cleanliness, merchandising and promotion.
- Revises existing programs and creates new ones to achieve and maintain the company's position as the leader in accounting operations in the Maldives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance Management
- Master of Business Management
- 10 years in hotel finance operations including a minimum of 5 years in management and ideally some time in a similar position.
- Considerable skill in complex mathematical calculations without error. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Considerable skill in applying, developing and linking Microsoft Excel, Word Processing, PowerPoint applications.
- Considerable hands-on experience in Opera PMS system, Sun Accounting system, Material Control System.
- Thorough knowledge of tax system in the Maldives, especially GST, WHT, Green Tax and Business Profit Tax and ability to communicate and negotiate with MIRA for all tax-related matters.
- Considerable skill in dealing fairly and independently with a great number of nationalities among the employees
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret written documents; write notices and articles; make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to a variety of audiences; listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Proactively identify both opportunities and challenges and develop effective action plans to address each situation
- A high degree of numerical competency is required, an ability to see trends in numbers, and to analyze these to draw meaningful conclusions promptly.
