Summary
The Expert Software Engineer is responsible for managing cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, testing frameworks, observability, security controls, and release management across AI-enabled application environments. The AI Expert DevOps Engineer will own the platform engineering foundation behind Jefferson's Azure-hosted AI Factory — enabling faster, safer, and more reliable delivery of AI-generated and AI-assisted applications at enterprise scale.

Job Duties

· Manage Azure-hosted AI Factory environments and related software solutions

· Build and maintain deployment pipelines supporting AI-assisted development

· Automate testing, release validation, and governance controls

· Implement monitoring, observability, operational intelligence, and incident response capabilities

· Manage containerization, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and platform automation

· Support integration with enterprise AI platforms, development environments, and cloud services

· Ensure enterprise security, compliance, availability, resiliency, and scalability standards are maintained

· Establish and maintain platform engineering standards, deployment patterns, and operational best practices for AI-generated applications

· Optimize cloud resource utilization, platform performance, and operational costs across AI Factory environments

· Implement disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, and high-availability capabilities for critical AI services

· Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Development teams to enable secure, scalable AI software delivery

· Evaluate and adopt emerging DevOps, automation, and cloud engineering capabilities that improve software delivery effectiveness

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or
• High School Diploma/GED and 10 years preferred work experience.
• 7 years in software development, including experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and services
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for enterprise applications
• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience implementing monitoring, observability, and incident response tooling for production environments
• Demonstrated ownership of platform security, compliance, availability, and resiliency practices
• Track record of operating and scaling cloud platforms in a senior/expert capacity, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning
• Roughly 5+ years of relevant DevOps/platform/cloud engineering experience, or equivalent depth — exact tenure matters less than demonstrated ownership of complex, production-scale cloud platforms 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 10 years with a track record of solving complex technical challenges and mentoring engineers.
• Experience supporting AI-assisted or AI-generated software delivery environments specifically
• Experience integrating DevOps pipelines with enterprise AI platforms or AI development tooling
• Healthcare or other regulated-industry background
• Relevant certifications (Azure, Kubernetes, DevOps/SRE-related)
• Experience establishing platform engineering standards or self-service developer platforms across multiple teams
• Experience optimizing cloud cost/utilization at scale

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
