Behavioral Health Nurse (BHN) Clinician/Case Manager - Wellness Circle

This is an exciting opportunity to join the multi-disciplinary team at the state-of-the-art Wellness Circle Crisis Stabilization Unit, a 16 bed, short-term residential crisis stabilization unit that serves individuals with mental illness and co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities who are in psychiatric crisis. Services include crisis intervention, individual, group and family counseling, case management, medication management, social and medical detoxification and linking individuals to ongoing behavioral health, substance use, or co-occurring services. This position provides direct nursing services including medical/nursing assessments, medication administration, addressing acute medical issues, and referring individuals to area hospitals and clinics. Monitors the detoxification process and intervenes as necessary per medical protocols. Trains and educates multidisciplinary staff and individuals being served about medical issues. Also responsible for program intakes, assessments, treatment planning, individual counseling, facilitating groups, and providing crisis intervention/crisis stabilization services under clinical supervision. This position involves shift work, including awake overnights and weekends. This position is designated as Emergency Services Personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in nursing; plus, two years of post-licensure experience as a nurse.
 
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.
• Valid Driver's License 
• MANDT (Required within 3 months)
• CPR/First Aid (Required within 3 months)
• Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) (Required within 6 months)

 
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, a driving record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter. Requires a National Provider Identifier. This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• At least two years of experience working with adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders in an intensive treatment group home, hospital emergency department or psychiatric unit, community-based behavioral emergency services, and/or crisis stabilization setting. 
• Currently certified as Qualified Mental Health Professional by the Commonwealth Board of Counseling.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Work three 12.5-16-hour shifts/week to include awake overnights, weekends, and holidays. The three weekly shifts might include day/swing/overnight hours. Ability to lift up to 20lbs. Ability to provide care/assistance, including physically assisting large adults in activities of daily living; sit; walk; stand; bend; climb stairs. Ability to observe client behavior and appearance, transport clients and supplies in agency vehicles. Ability to read/write notes in electronic health record & chart; communicate in person/on phone. Must be able to provide medical supervision and services to sick residents. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
