Principal Solutions Architect (Ontology Architect)

Serves as the senior architecture leader for the Advisory Engineering portfolio, partnering with Product, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Data, Security, AI, and business leaders to design secure, scalable, and modern technology solutions. Translates complex business and client needs into enterprise architecture strategies that enable product innovation, consulting effectiveness, and long-term business value. The Principal Solutions Architect provides technical leadership across the portfolio by guiding architecture decisions, evaluating technology options, driving modernization initiatives, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards while supporting engineering teams through solution delivery.

• Serve as the lead architecture partner for the Advisory Engineering portfolio, providing technical direction across products, platforms, and strategic initiatives.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, business stakeholders, and Enterprise Architecture to define scalable solution architectures aligned with business strategy and enterprise standards.
• Translate business requirements into end-to-end technical solutions, including application architecture, APIs, integrations, cloud services, data, security, and operational support.
• Lead architecture assessments, modernization strategies, and technology roadmaps for legacy and emerging platforms.
• Evaluate build, buy, partner, and reuse options, providing recommendations based on business value, scalability, cost, risk, and sustainability.
• Design secure, governed AI-enabled solutions aligned with enterprise AI standards.
• Establish architecture patterns for data, integrations, interoperability, and enterprise platform capabilities in partnership with Data Governance and Security teams.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, mentoring, and resolution of complex technical challenges.
• Review third-party solutions to ensure architectural integrity, operational readiness, and alignment with enterprise standards.
• Communicate architecture strategies, technical risks, and recommendations to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise application development.
• 5+ years leading architecture for enterprise applications or complex technology solutions.
• Experience designing cloud-native applications, APIs, integrations, distributed systems, data platforms, and enterprise software architectures.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications while maintaining business continuity.
• Experience designing AI-enabled or data-driven solutions using modern cloud platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to influence architecture decisions across Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and business stakeholders.
• Strong executive communication, facilitation, and relationship management skills.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00.
