Uses data and visible floor leadership to improve availability, response time, PM execution, quality, cost, and output while balancing immediate production needs with long-term reliability.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop the team: Set clear expectations for safety, quality, responsiveness, workmanship, documentation, and conduct; coach performance, recognize results, address gaps, recruit and onboard talent, and maintain technical training, qualification, cross-training, and succession plans.

  • Plan labor and coverage: Align staffing and skills across shifts, production areas, shutdowns, weekend work, projects, training, vacations, absences, and unplanned events; monitor overtime, fatigue, attendance, workload, and labor effectiveness.

  • Direct maintenance execution: Prioritize work by safety, product risk, equipment criticality, and production need; lead troubleshooting, repair, recovery, escalation, shift handoffs, and after-hours response; ensure safe, stable, and documented return to service.

  • Improve equipment reliability: Optimize preventive, predictive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance; analyze equipment and work-order data; lead root-cause analysis and corrective action; reduce repeat failures and standardize successful practices.

  • Own safety, quality, and compliance: Enforce approved procedures, energy control, PPE, permits, and equipment-specific requirements; lead job-risk reviews; stop unsafe work; ensure incidents, near misses, quality events, and audit actions are contained, escalated, documented, and closed.

  • Manage systems, cost, and resources: Maintain CMMS and work-order discipline; manage budget, overtime, contractors, tools, repair cost, and assigned spending; coordinate critical spares, obsolescence, service agreements, vendors, and investment requests.

  • Collaborate and communicate: Partner across functions to resolve priorities, facilitate daily reviews, clarify ownership, and provide concise updates on equipment status, risk, production impact, recovery timing, escalation needs, and next steps.

SUCCESS MEASURES

Safety performance and corrective-action effectiveness; equipment availability and uptime; MTTR, MTBF, and repeat failures; PM compliance, schedule attainment, planned work, and backlog health; equipment-related quality, yield, and scrap; startup and shutdown execution; staffing coverage, productivity, overtime, training, qualification depth, retention, and development; maintenance cost, inventory effectiveness, vendor performance, and delivered reliability improvements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent technical education, apprenticeship, and progressive experience may be considered.

  • Seven or more years in equipment maintenance, field service, manufacturing engineering, or industrial operations, including at least three years of direct leadership in a high-volume, continuous, automated, or regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of equipment troubleshooting; preventive and predictive maintenance; root-cause analysis; work planning; reliability metrics; CMMS and maintenance records; budget, contractor, and spare-parts management.

  • Strong risk-based decision-making, coaching, conflict resolution, communication, presentation, data-analysis, and stakeholder-management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in semiconductor or another equipment-intensive, regulated industry; knowledge of automated equipment, robotics, controls, mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic, thermal, chemical, gas, or facilities systems; formal training or certification in maintenance and reliability, Lean/Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, project management, or occupational safety; experience with installations, qualifications, overhauls, capital projects, service contracts, and obsolescence.
