We are looking for a Fixed Assets Assistant to join our team in Costa Rica. The selected candidate will support the accounting and finance team in managing the company’s fixed asset records, ensuring accurate tracking, capitalization, depreciation, reconciliation, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This role is responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register, assisting with audits, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities related to fixed assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the company’s fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
  • Record acquisitions, transfers, disposals, retirements, and adjustments of fixed assets in the ERP/accounting system.
  • Calculate and monitor monthly depreciation and amortization schedules.
  • Reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities related to fixed assets.
  • Review capital expenditure (CapEx) documentation to ensure proper classification and capitalization.
  • Track construction-in-progress (CIP) projects and support capitalization upon completion.
  • Coordinate and support periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards such as US GAAP and IFRS where applicable.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to fixed asset accounting and controls.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, and other departments to verify asset purchases and movements.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience; experience in fixed assets accounting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting principles, including knowledge of tax-free zone regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Intermediate English (B1/B2) preferred, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively through email, chat, and other written communication channels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite)  
  • Experience in manufacturing or medical device environments
