Description
We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a UNOC Technician to provide 24/7 monitoring, troubleshooting and operational support across core network, fibre and infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining exceptional network availability, coordinating incident resolution and ensuring seamless connectivity across a complex telecommunications environment.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor core network, fibre and infrastructure elements on a 24/7 basis to maintain network availability and minimise downtime.
- Proactively identify, report, escalate and coordinate the resolution of network outages, alarms and service-affecting incidents.
- Create, manage and update trouble tickets while ensuring incidents are resolved within agreed SLAs and MTTR targets.
- Perform first-line troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and localisation across telecommunications network environments.
- Coordinate with second-line support teams, field technicians, vendors, contractors and fibre partners to facilitate timely fault resolution.
- Serve as a central point of contact for infrastructure incidents, outages, changes and network-related escalations.
- Manage proactive customer and internal stakeholder communication during network incidents and service interruptions.
- Monitor network performance, identify potential single points of failure and escalate technical risks for corrective action.
- Support network maintenance, installations, commissioning, service restoration and configuration activities where required.
- Monitor and report on operational performance indicators, including MTTR, MTTI, network availability and SLA compliance.
- Ensure adherence to incident management processes, operating procedures and network operational standards.
- Assist with technical support and knowledge sharing across internal teams and external service providers.
Requirements:
- Technical Diploma or relevant technical qualification.
- Cisco or equivalent industry certification is essential.
- ITIL V3 Foundation certification would be advantageous.
- At least 3 years' experience within the telecommunications or technology industry.
- Strong technical understanding of telecommunications networks, including technologies such as IP, transmission and fibre networks.
- Experience in network monitoring, fault management, incident management and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with cross-functional technical teams, vendors, contractors and service providers.
- Strong understanding of SLAs, MTTR, MTTI and network performance management.
- Report writing experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to process, procedures and operational compliance.
- Highly motivated, disciplined and capable of working independently or within a team.
- Ability to remain effective in a high-pressure, service-critical environment.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts according to a 24/7 operational roster.
