Report to Sr. NPD Manager, you as a Sr. Arrestor Development Engineer will be responsible for designing Surge Arrestor product per customer requirements and 5 Phase procedure; optimizing Surge Arrestor design with consideration of manufacturing, process, low cost and automation; providing technical support to customer

About the Job:

  • Independently lead Surge Arrestor development project to ensure on time, on cost and on quality product launch as project manager and NPD Engineer 40%
  • Drive product design from conceptual stage to design frozen, process frozen, product validation and mass production
  • Work out accurate product cost by analyzing BOM, process and tooling with inputs from manufacturing engineer, process engineer and quality engineer to ensure enough product profitability
  • Conduct technical and cost feasibility for new business opportunities

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering and Automation, High Voltage and Insulation Technology, Power System and Automation, Power Transmission and Distribution Engineering, Electrical Insulation and Cable or related fields. Those with a master's degree, background in high-voltage testing, insulation coordination or power equipment research and development are preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Surge Arrestor design and development for power system applications, with hands-on experience in metal-oxide surge arrestors, MOV varistors, insulation coordination, and overvoltage protection.
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical design of Surge Arrestors, including key parameter calculation, residual voltage, energy capability, thermal stability, insulation level, creepage distance, housing, sealing, grading ring, and pressure-relief structure; 2D/3D CAD skills such as Solid Edge, Pro/ENGINEER (Creo), SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor are required.
  • Familiar with relevant Surge Arrestor standards and product validation, such as IEC 60099-4, IEC 60099-5, IEEE C62.11, and GB/T 11032; experience in design verification, type testing, thermal stability testing, short-circuit testing, ageing testing, failure analysis, and mass-production introduction is preferred.
  • Strong technical leadership and problem-solving competency, with the ability to independently lead Surge Arrestor development projects, resolve complex electrical, thermal, mechanical, sealing, and reliability issues, provide technical guidance to junior engineers, and communicate effectively in Chinese and English technical documentation or meetings.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to act as a project leader to drive cross-functional teams to ensure new product launch timely
