Purpose:

Texas Athletics Performance Nutrition is seeking passionate and growth-minded interns for the 2026 fall semester. Designed for applicants pursuing a career in nutrition and health promotion or operations within collegiate athletics, interns will be introduced to the foodservice aspects of sports nutrition including management of fueling station products and food safety. Interns will report to the Assistant Sports Dietitian and the Nutrition Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver product from central receiving to all athletics fueling station locations on assigned routes
  • Assist with loading and unloading deliveries under the direction of the Operations Manager
  • Perform vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any concerns
  • Maintain product integrity (temperature, packaging, handling) during transit
  • Communicate any delivery discrepancies or station concerns immediately to the Operations Manager
  • Assist with food prep tasks as assigned — ServSafe certification required
  • Fill stocking shifts as assigned — follow FIFO rotation standards at all times
  • Complete basic station restocking tasks as assigned during delivery windows
  • Support game-day setup, travel trunk packing, and breakdown as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • All student assistants must hold a current ServSafe certification before handling food
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Flexible schedule; including occasional early mornings and weekends
  • Must adhere to all NCAA, University of Texas and University of Texas Athletics policies, rules and regulations
  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin.
  • Must have a Texas driver’s license
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of the ServSafe Food Safety Certification
  • Pursuing a degree in Sports Nutrition, Exercise Science, Wellness Health Promotion, Sport Management or a related health field

Driving Required:

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

  • $8/hour

  • May work in all weather conditions, including inclement and extreme weather

Work Shift:

  • Fall 2026 Semester (Rehire eligible based on performance)
  • Work will be performed in person, on campus
  • Flexible; weekly hours vary between 6 AM – 6 PM based on practice and game times and can be set around class schedules, occasional varied weekend hours
