State Street Investment Management is looking for a Senior Agentic Engineering Developer with Masters (7+) or Bachelors (10+) years’ experience for our Engineering & Business Service Platform Team, a part of Technical and Business Architecture Solutions. This is a manager role but the candidate must have very strong hands-on software development experience, problem solving skills, and demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to accelerate development and drive innovation.

The ideal candidate brings deep Financial Services industry experience, hands-on expertise in API management platforms, cloud native development, and a proven ability to apply AI technologies — including large language models, AI-assisted development, agentic agents and intelligent automation — to drive measurable business outcomes. Strong self-motivation, creativity, and the ability to perform under tight timelines and competing priorities are essential. Beyond technical execution, the candidate demonstrates a strong product mindset, aligning engineering decisions with user needs and long-term business strategy, and has hands-on experience delivering across multiple platforms — web, mobile, and desktop. They are equally adept at designing flexible, scalable architectures that embrace modularity and adapt gracefully to evolving requirements and future technology shifts.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Lead and manage a team of software developers to deliver application development projects on time and with high quality, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members to ensure high performance, skills growth in modern technologies including AI, and professional development aligned with company values.
• Drive the adoption of AI across the engineering lifecycle — from product design, feature analysis, code generation, unit testing, and even automated testing, to applying machine learning and intelligent automation to solve complex business problems and deliver intelligent product features.
• Architect and deliver AI Agent solutions and domain-specific skills — designing autonomous, goal-driven agents that integrate with enterprise systems, orchestrate multi-step workflows, and surface actionable intelligence to end users across business domains.
• Leverage Java, Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, SQL, and shell scripting as core backend languages and frameworks, complement with modern frontend technologies for web and mobile interfaces, and build and maintain software delivery infrastructure — from build automation to CI/CD pipelines — to scale cloud native application delivery on AWS.
• Design and evolve flexible, scalable system architectures that embrace modularity, support multi-platform delivery across web, mobile, and desktop, and adapt gracefully to evolving business requirements and technology shifts.
• Develop and maintain composable components, shared libraries, and reusable platform services that accelerate delivery across project teams, reduce duplication, and enable consistent, scalable solutions to common business needs.
• Drive a Docs-as-Code approach, ensuring technical documentation is co-located with source code and kept current, accurate, and discoverable.
• Integrate the developer portal with enterprise systems — including identity and access management, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and Kubernetes — to provide a unified operational interface for engineering teams.
• Support and stabilize production applications, diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently — including determination of workaround solutions or escalation to service owners — to meet business SLAs and operational requirements.
• Anticipate, monitor, manage, and report all risk and compliance issues, breaches, and suspicious activities.
• Act in accordance with Risk Excellence and role model ethical behaviour and decision making as part of our Way Ahead foundation.

What We Value
 

• Strong, proven technical skills, with a track record of successfully designing, developing and supporting complex systems.
• Excellent skills in application development using Java, JEE, REST API, Web Services, Microservices, and API management platforms; proficiency in designing and developing composable, reusable components and shared libraries; and hands-on experience applying AI tools and techniques across the software development lifecycle.
• Hands on experience on API Design, Development and Lifecycle management.
• Hands on experience with SQL and databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle etc. and AWS RDS.
• Hands on working knowledge of AWS services, such has EC2, S3, Lambda, VPCs, Load balancing, ECS/EKS, networking,  health monitoring and troubleshooting using tools like Kibana and Grafana.
• Hands on experience in building systems using modern, scalable, resilient, cloud native architectures (Containers, Serverless, etc.).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools and DevOps.
• Excellent hands-on problem solving skills with a strong can-do attitude and a drive to proactively identify opportunities to innovate and improve, taking thoughtful risks to get things done better and faster.
• Strong ability to engage with business stakeholders, elicit and analyse requirements, identify underlying needs, and translate ambiguous requests into clear, actionable technical objectives.
• Deep understanding about AI agents and harness engineering.
• Passionate for learning new skills and capabilities, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of AI and emerging technologies.
• Comfortable working in a global, distributed team environment with the flexibility to accommodate varying time zones and cross-regional collaboration as needed.

Education & Preferred Qualifications/Skills

• Masters or Bachelor’s  degree in Computer Science & Technology, Information Management, or a related technical discipline is preferred; background or coursework in Finance, Economics, or Financial Engineering is a strong plus, given the domain context of financial services.
• Masters with 7+ or Bachelors with 10+ years of experience in Information Technology and Asset Management Industry.
• Experience in leading architecture, design, development and support of large-scale enterprise applications.
• Must have strong programming proficiency across multiple languages and paradigms, with deep expertise in enterprise Java technologies (core Java, Spring framework, etc.), and solid command of database technologies (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Experience in CI/CD is required.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience applying AI technologies — including large language models, AI-assisted development, and intelligent automation — to solve real-world problems and deliver production-grade solutions.
• Strong product mindset with the ability to translate business needs into well-designed, user-centric technical solutions; capable of balancing innovation with pragmatism to drive outcomes.
• Proven ability to take initiative, experiment with new ideas, and deliver end-to-end — from concept to working software — with a bias for action and a hands-on approach.
• Strong team ethics and team player.
• Strong English communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Focus and desire to deliver high quality services.
• Ability to work in a high pressured and time sensitive environment.
