Software Developer

KBR is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer/Application Developer in Carlsbad, CA, for long-term employment to develop breakthrough products and innovative software applications for government and commercial customers. As a software engineer, you work individually or on a small team developing software to work geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) and motion GEOINT, including electro-optical (EO; visible spectrum) and infrared (IR) imagery, imagery intelligence (IMINT), geospatial information, full motion video (FMV), moving target indication (MTI), wide area motion imagery (WAMI), hyperspectral imagery (HIS), and light detection and ranging (LIDAR). Many of our projects have an immediate impact on national security leaders' decision-making options. We need engineers who can work with full-stack development teams and handle all aspects of feature development. Hybrid work environment available, but work is primarily performed at our Carlsbad office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with a team lead to define software requirements
• Design & develop system software for our customers
• Explore new areas or program in new languages to deliver a complete product
• Support on-site meetings and deliveries to customers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve customer and company goals

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Clearance & Citizenship: MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. Must have a Secret Security Clearance with TS/SCI eligibility. 

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of software development, and object-oriented design and programming, including design, coding, and testing experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

Technical Acumen:

• Experience with Web Services and JavaScript (e.g., ReactJS)
• Hands-on experience with Java, JavaScript, and C/C++

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Postgres and MySQL
• AWS and Azure experience
• Familiarity with Agile and/or DevSecOps procedures
• Security+ or CISSP certification
• Software Tester / Quality Assurance Specialist (with >2 years of experience in software testing and >1 year of experience in software quality assurance).
• DevOps Engineer (with >2 years of experience in configuration control, testing, security, automation, containerization, orchestration, and cloud services open source technologies)
• Contractor Product Owner (with >2 years of experience in software management and managing a backlog of requirements)

Additional Notes: The selected applicant may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week

Basic Compensation: $88,000-$132,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
