Overview
We're recruiting a Bid Coordinator to support the delivery of high-quality proposals that help us win new work and strengthen existing client relationships.
Walker Morris is a firm that refuses to follow the expected path, and our Bids & Proposals team plays a vital role in helping us communicate our expertise, differentiate ourselves in a competitive market, and secure exciting new opportunities. With the business continuing to grow, we are expanding the Marketing & Business Development team, and this is an exciting opportunity for a Bid Coordinator to join us and contribute to the firm's continued success.
Reporting to our Senior Manager - Bids, you'll be supported to develop your skills, strengthen your proposal writing expertise, and build your experience in bid management and business development. Working alongside the wider Bids & Proposals team, you'll collaborate with colleagues across the firm to create compelling, client-focused submissions that showcase the very best of Walker Morris.
Throughout the year, you'll contribute to a wide range of opportunities across our key sectors and service lines, supporting formal tenders, client proposals and pursuit activities. You'll gain valuable insight into our clients and markets, conduct research, help maintain our library of experience and credentials, and work closely with colleagues to ensure every submission reflects our client promise of Bold thinking, simply delivered.
If you're looking for a role that combines writing, project coordination, stakeholder management and strategic business development, this is the job for you. We're committed to helping you grow, with access to internal and external training, opportunities to take on increasing responsibility, and the support of a collaborative team that values curiosity, continuous improvement and fresh thinking.
As the Bids Coordinator you will:
- Manage the production of project proposals and credentials documents, working with colleagues to tailor content to the client, opportunity and sector.
- Support formal bids and tenders by coordinating assigned workstreams, tracking actions and helping contributors meet agreed deadlines.
- Draft, edit and proofread proposal content, turning technical input from lawyers and other specialists into clear, concise and client-focused responses.
- Assist with client questionnaires, supplier portal responses and recurring tender questions, ensuring information is accurate and consistent.
- Maintain and help improve the firm’s bid content library, including experience examples, CVs, case studies and testimonials.
- Collect, review and record matter experience from across the firm in SharePoint, building a reliable bank of evidence for future bids, proposals and client development activity.
- Support pursuit activity, including market and client research and preparation for bid qualification or kick-off discussions.
- Maintain accurate opportunity data in the firm’s CRM system, InterAction+, and assist with regular bid activity reporting.
- Help monitor tender inboxes, ensuring new opportunities are logged and directed to the right colleagues.
- Work with the team to make practical improvements to bid templates, tools and workflows.
We are looking for:
- Experience of working in a bids, business development or marketing role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment, would be preferable.
- Well-developed writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt content for different clients, sectors, formats and word or page limits.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines, prioritise competing tasks and keep accurate records.
- Confidence communicating with colleagues at different levels, including fee earners, partners and business services teams.
- A proactive and practical approach, with the confidence to ask questions, follow up on actions and keep work moving often to challenging timescales and deadlines.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing accurate, well-presented work.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Copilot, with an interest in using design tools such as Adobe InDesign where appropriate.
- Willingness to learn, take feedback and continue developing bid management, proposal writing and project coordination skills.
Some of our benefits include:
- Salary reflective of experience.
- Earn up to 10% of your salary with our annual bonus scheme.
- Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays per year increasing to 31 days with length of service, with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days holiday per year.
- Auto enrolled into the workplace pension scheme, and we’ll contribute a minimum of 6% of your salary.
- 4x your annual salary in the event of a death in service.
- Hybrid and flexible working for most roles with a minimum of 40% of your time spent in the office.
