Help others move better, feel stronger, and improve their overall well-being at the Stroum Jewish Community Center.

We are seeking talented and passionate Pilates, Barre, Yoga, and Mind-Body Fitness Instructors who enjoy creating welcoming, engaging, and supportive fitness experiences for adults of all ages and abilities.


As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will lead classes that help participants improve strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, posture, body awareness, and overall wellness through mindful movement. You will create an environment where participants feel comfortable, encouraged, and empowered to achieve their personal wellness goals.


We are especially interested in instructors who teach Mat Pilates, Barre, Yoga, Mobility, Stretch, Core, Balance, Functional Movement, Mind-Body Fusion, Dance Fitness, and other group fitness, small group training, and specialty wellness formats.


We are seeking instructors with availability for weekday mornings, evenings, and weekends.


Responsibilities

As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will:

  • Teach safe, engaging, and effective classes in Pilates, Barre, Yoga, mobility, stretching, dance, and other mind-body fitness formats. 
  • Lead scheduled classes beginning and ending on time with appropriate warm-up, class progression, and cool-down. 
  • Provide instruction on proper alignment, breathing techniques, body awareness, posture, and movement mechanics. 
  • Demonstrate exercises and provide clear instruction to help participants understand proper technique and movement patterns. 
  • Offer modifications and progressions to safely accommodate participants with varying ages, fitness levels, mobility, and physical abilities. 
  • Create an encouraging and inclusive atmosphere where participants feel confident, supported, and motivated. 
  • Prepare appropriate equipment, music, and class materials as needed. 
  • Ensure participant safety by following established exercise guidelines and SJCC policies. 
  • Build positive relationships with members to encourage continued participation and community engagement. 
  • Substitute for other instructors as needed. 
  • Follow all SJCC emergency procedures. 
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Successful candidates will have:

  • Experience teaching Pilates, Barre, Yoga, or another mind-body fitness modality. 
  • Ability to lead safe, engaging, and inclusive group fitness classes. 
  • Strong knowledge of movement mechanics, alignment, flexibility, balance, mobility, posture, and core training principles. 
  • Ability to modify exercises for participants with varying abilities, experience levels, and physical needs. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills. 
  • Ability to coach, inspire, and empower participants. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations. 
  • Knowledge of relevant safety practices and appropriate exercise guidelines. 
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team. 
  • Strong judgment and professionalism.

 

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Current nationally recognized Group Fitness certification or specialty certification in Pilates, Barre, Yoga, or another applicable fitness discipline. 
  • Certifications from organizations such as ACE, ACSM, NASM, AFAA, Yoga Alliance (RYT), Balanced Body, STOTT Pilates, Polestar, BASI, Barre Above, or equivalent preferred. 
  • Current Adult & Child CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification by the required deadline. 

Compensation & Benefits

  • $45.00–$62.50 per class depending on experience
  • Full Family SJCC Membership, including fitness center, pool, and basketball court (employees working 20+ hours/week). 
  • Discounts on SJCC programs for employees and their families. 
  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer contribution after two years. 
  • Washington Paid Sick Leave for eligible part-time, on-call, and seasonal employees. 

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, certifications, teaching expertise, and assigned class formats.
