What You’ll Do
- Assist veterinarians with appointments, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- Perform technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, sample collection, and patient restraint
- Monitor anesthesia and support surgical procedures
- Prepare and maintain surgical equipment and treatment areas
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed
- Provide compassionate nursing care for hospitalized patients
- Support a high-volume general practice environment with efficiency and confidence
- Assist with scheduled appointments, drop-offs, and urgent patient needs
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation
- Help ensure a smooth experience for patients, clients, and the medical team
- Educate clients on preventative care, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Build strong relationships through compassionate and professional communication
- Partner with the team to create an exceptional client experience
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant in a general practice, urgent care, or emergency setting
- Strong technical skills and confidence working independently
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy hospital environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working with canine and feline patients
- RVT credential or eligibility to sit for the VTNE
- Experience supporting surgery, anesthesia monitoring, and dentistry procedures
- Experience supporting appointments, client education, and patient discharge instructions
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment while supporting patient care and daily hospital operations. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and remain active for extended periods throughout the workday
- Ability to safely restrain, handle, and assist with the movement of dogs, cats, and other veterinary patients
- Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with appropriate assistance when needed
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including cleaning, stocking, preparing treatment areas, and assisting with medical procedures
- Ability to work around animal dander, odors, bodily fluids, cleaning products, and medical equipment
- Ability to safely operate in a busy clinical environment where exposure to unexpected animal behavior, noise, and urgent medical situations may occur
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, doctors, technicians, assistants, and hospital leadership
