Location: Mt.Laurel, NJ 

Pay Rate: $26.90 - $28.65

 

Summary: 

 

The Senior School Safety Ambassador serves as the lead safety and crisis response specialist within the school program. This position provides leadership, oversight, training, and support to staff regarding crisis prevention, de-escalation strategies, emergency response procedures, and approved crisis intervention techniques. The Senior School Safety Ambassador promotes a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed educational environment by, responding to behavioral crises, monitoring compliance with safety protocols, and serving as a resource to school leadership and staff 

Responsibilities

• Monitors hallways, common areas, classrooms, transportation areas, and outdoor spaces to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
• Responds to all Code Blue incidents and provides leadership, guidance, and support utilizing approved de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
• Responds to all Code Orange situations and serves as a lead member of the search and recovery team.
• Assists in the resolution of dangerous, disruptive, or escalating situations involving students while exercising sound judgment and maintaining student dignity.
• Assists in coordinating crisis response efforts during emergency situations and serves as a point of contact for safety ambassador staff during incidents. 
• Conducts end-of-day safety equipment inspections to ensure mats, PPE, communication devices, and other safety equipment are accounted for, properly maintained, and operational.
• Maintains a safe and respectful environment free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, threats, bullying, intimidation, and weapons.
• Serves as the lead School Safety Ambassador and provides day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to Safety Ambassadors and school staff.Models and reinforces best practices related to safety, behavior management, crisis intervention, and student support.
• Supports school leadership in coordinating safety operations and responding to emergency situations.Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings as necessary and collaborates with educational, clinical, and administrative staff to address student safety concerns.
• Assists the Education Network in facilitating crisis intervention training, annual recertifications, emergency preparedness activities, and staff development programs.
• Provides coaching and ongoing support to staff regarding de-escalation techniques, behavior support strategies, and safety procedures.
• Identifies training needs and recommends opportunities to strengthen staff preparedness and effectivenes
• Maintains current certifications and ensures compliance with all required training standards.
• Assists in tracking, monitoring, and analyzing incident trends to identify opportunities for prevention and program improvement. 
• Recommends improvements to safety protocols, equipment, and crisis response practices.
• Supports school-wide initiatives focused on violence prevention, positive behavior support, and student wellness.
• Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, courtesy, honesty, and respect in all interactions.
• Maintains effective communication with students, families, staff, leadership, and external partners.
• Serves as a positive role model and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of direct experience working in an educational environment, or, 30 college credits with six months of related work experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field are required.
• Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
