Overview of the department
MUFG has a developing and thriving Transactional Banking business, headquartered in Tokyo and spanning all continents. Transaction Banking, EMEA (incorporating Europe, Middle East and Africa) forms part of MUFG’s Global Transaction Banking Division.
Our key responsibilities are to drive regional business and support global & regional clients with Transaction Banking solutions for Cash and Liquidity Management, Foreign Exchange, Trade and Working Capital through a comprehensive suite of proprietary and 3rd party digital channels. We support our local and international cash management services for our Corporate, FI and NBFI client base.
Transaction Banking EMEA consists of Trade, Working Capital, Cash and Liquidity Management solutions for our chosen client base and comprises product, sales, implementation, client services, planning and risk functions
Function positioning
As an experienced Global Transaction Banking Sales professional, you will drive the growth of our Cash & Liquidity Management business across Europe. You will manage relationships with EU-based Japanese multinational corporations, working closely with Relationship Managers, Product, and Implementation teams to deliver comprehensive treasury solutions that support clients’ domestic and international business needs.
The role includes the following / key responsibilities:
Business Development
- Develop and execute a sales strategy for Cash & Liquidity Management solutions targeting Japanese multinational corporations across Europe.
- Identify new business opportunities and deepen existing client relationships to increase transaction banking revenues.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline and proactively manage opportunities through to successful implementation.
- Deliver sustainable growth in deposits, cash management revenues, fee income, and transaction volumes.
Client Coverage
- Act as the primary Transaction Banking specialist for assigned Japanese corporate clients.
- Understand clients’ treasury, liquidity, working capital, and payment requirements and provide tailored solutions.
- Conduct client meetings, treasury reviews, and solution workshops across Europe.
- Develop trusted relationships with treasury teams and key decision makers.
Solution Sales
Promote the bank’s Cash & Liquidity Management products, including:
- Domestic and cross-border payment solutions
- Collection and receivable solutions, AR reconciliation
- Liquidity management structures (cash concentration, notional pooling, in-house bank structures)
- Interest-bearing accounts and short-term investment solutions
- Trade finance and working capital optimization solutions
- Electronic banking platforms, API, and host-to-host connectivity
- Cash forecasting and reporting solutions
- Strategic account management
- RFI/RFP management
In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Banking, Business, or a related discipline.
- At least 6-7 years of experience in Transaction Banking, Cash Management, Treasury Services, or Corporate Banking.
- Demonstrated experience covering Japanese multinational corporations is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of originating new business and achieving sales targets.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client opportunities across different European markets.
- Strong understanding of:
- Cash Management, Liquidity Management
- Payments and Collections, Treasury Operations
- SEPA and cross-border payments
- SWIFT connectivity, Host-to-host connectivity
- ISO 20022, APIs and digital treasury solutions
- Deposit and short-term investment products
- Trade Finance and working capital solutions
- Native or business-level Japanese and fluent in English. Additional European language(s) would be advantageous.

Additional information:
