Description
The Motor Claims Handler is responsible for managing motor insurance claims from notification to settlement, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and excellent customer service while complying with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle motor insurance claims from First Notification of Loss (FNOL) through to closure.
- Assess liability, coverage, and policy terms.
- Gather and review documentation (accident reports, repair estimates, medical reports).
- Communicate with policyholders, third parties, and repair networks professionally.
- Provide timely updates and manage expectations throughout the claims process.
- Investigate circumstances of the claim, liaise with witnesses and experts.
- Negotiate settlements within authority limits.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Refer complex or high-value claims to senior handlers or team leaders.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of motor insurance policies and claims processes.
- Previous experience in insurance or claims handling preferred.
- Professional insurance qualifications (e.g., CIP) desirable.
- Familiarity with claims management systems and MS Office.
