Machine Operator 2nd Shift

Description

Position Summary (Mission):

This position is responsible for the operation of machinery, equipment, and tooling required in the manufacturing of piston rings.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (Duties include but are not limited to)

1. Uses quality standards to ensure set-ups are done correctly and operates the machinery at an acceptable rate, ensuring that the machinery runs within process control parameters while practicing safety compliance at all times.
2. Follows SPC chart measurements requirements while operating the machinery in order to produce product that meets with strict design and quality standards.
3. Follows work instructions to determine proper method of performing quality work
4. Performs unskilled maintenance as required.
5. Stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces.
6. Records data on employee time/job card in the computer.
7. Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner.
8. Notify team leader or supervisor of any mechanical or material issues/shortages and recommends production efficiency and quality improvements to supervisor.
9. Immediately report incidents and accidents in work area.
10. Follows applicable safety and environmental rules and regulations Participate/Establish an environment and culture that promotes safety in the workplace.
11. Attends and contributes to department and Company meetings.
12. Participates in continuous improvement education/training programs to maintain current technology and methodology as specified by management.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates within a plant environment subject to indoor factory conditions; heated in winter and non-air conditioned in summer.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. May have to transfer product from one building to another.

Requirements

Education, Skills & Experience Required:

2. High School diploma or GED is required.
3. Minimum of one-year factory or equivalent experience is preferred in metal forming, machining or operation of machines.
4. Position involves standing, walking and lifting for periods of time throughout the day.
5. Willingness to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
6. Fluent in English with comprehensive speaking, writing, spelling skills.
7. Must be able to perform basic math.
8. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands

Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds routinely and be physically capable of full range of motion as required to perform all tasks and functions as listed above.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use corrected vision, talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms – above, at and below the waist. The position rarely involves sitting. This position will include walking long distances, moving about in a work area with bending, twisting, turning and reaching throughout the day.
