Community & Special Event Volunteer

This classification is used for individuals who voluntarily provide services to the City of Cudahy without compensation. Volunteers may assist City departments with programs, activities, special events, community services, and other approved assignments based on departmental needs and volunteer interests. Volunteer assignments may vary in duties, duration, schedule, and required qualifications.

Volunteer service is not City employment and does not create an employment relationship or entitlement to wages or City employee benefits. Volunteers must complete all applicable City requirements and receive authorization before beginning a volunteer assignment.

Depending on the volunteer assignment, duties may include assisting City staff with recreation programs, youth sports, senior programs, community events, outreach activities, administrative support, and other City programs or services.

Volunteers may assist with program or event setup and cleanup; greet and provide general information to participants and the public; assist with registration, check-in, activities, games, and program operations; support coaches, instructors, or City staff; organize materials and supplies; and perform other volunteer activities related to the assigned program.

Specific duties will vary by assignment and will be performed under the direction of designated City staff.

Qualifications will vary depending on the volunteer assignment. Volunteers should have an interest in serving the community and the ability to follow directions, work cooperatively with City staff and the public, and perform the duties of the assigned volunteer role in a safe and responsible manner.

Some assignments may have minimum age requirements or require specific experience, skills, certifications, training, background screening, or other requirements based on the nature of the volunteer activity.

Applicants must successfully complete all applicable City volunteer requirements before beginning service.

Volunteer opportunities are based on City needs and availability and may be temporary, seasonal, ongoing, or limited to a specific program or event. Submission of a volunteer application does not guarantee placement in a volunteer assignment.

Volunteer schedules, assignments, and duration of service will be determined by the applicable City department.
