JOB OVERVIEW

The Ohio Building and Maintenance Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting the construction, operation, maintenance, and continued improvement of Azure facilities and properties in the South Point area.

The Ohio Building and Maintenance Lead works across the life of a facility—from construction and commissioning through ongoing maintenance, repairs, renovations, and improvements. This means carrying knowledge forward, understanding how the buildings and their systems work, identifying problems before they become larger issues, and helping ensure Azure’s facilities remain safe, functional, reliable, and well cared for.

This is a working-lead position for someone with broad construction knowledge who can lead crews, organize labor and materials, solve problems in the field, and work alongside the crew when needed. The Lead is expected to take practical ownership of the work and help carry projects and maintenance needs through to completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership and Coordination

• Provide daily leadership, direction, assistance, mentoring, and technical guidance to assigned team members.
• Assign and prioritize tasks, monitor work progress and quality, and help ensure instructions and project requirements are understood and carried out.
• Work alongside the crew and provide practical guidance on construction and maintenance methods, techniques, and safe work practices.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for the crew and elevate questions, field conditions, or issues to the appropriate manager or project lead when direction is needed.

Construction, Repair & Maintenance

• Participate in and help lead assigned construction, repair, renovation, maintenance, and improvement work across Azure facilities and properties in the area.
• Read and understand plans, drawings, specifications, and assigned scope sufficiently to help direct the work and recognize when clarification or additional direction is needed.
• Help identify maintenance needs and support routine and preventive maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, and building systems.
• Keep the appropriate manager or project lead informed of work progress, material needs, field conditions, delays, and issues requiring direction.

Materials, Tools & Jobsite Readiness

• Make sure the crew has the materials and supplies needed to work efficiently, including preparing material lists, communicating what needs to be ordered, and procuring or staging supplies as directed.
• Monitor tools and equipment and promptly report damaged, lost, or malfunctioning items so repairs or replacements can be arranged.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area, including proper organization of tools and materials and separation of recyclables and trash for scheduled pickup.

Equipment & Vehicle Operation

• Safely operate equipment as authorized, including telehandlers, forklifts, skid steers, manlifts, and other equipment required for assigned work.
• Drive company vehicles as authorized, following required training and company policies.

• Physical Requirements: Lifting objects up to 50 lbs., reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, and squatting is routinely required

• Facility Care: Maintenance needs are identified and addressed, helping keep Azure facilities safe, functional, reliable, and well cared for.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, generally beginning at 6:00 AM.
• The work schedule may be adjusted, including four 10-hour days when appropriate, to make efficient use of crew time and meet project or facility needs. Work schedules are established at the manager’s discretion.
• This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring regular work in active construction, maintenance, warehouse, and outdoor environments, including exposure to inclement weather and a wide range of temperatures. Employees are expected to wear appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for the weather, work environment, and assigned duties. 
• Work may be performed at the South Point facility and other Azure facilities or properties in the surrounding area.
