MAHUBE-OTWA is actively recruiting a Early Head Start TEACHER at our Park Rapids Family Childcare. Seeking caring individuals with a strong independent initiative, and experience implementing developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood development to work in our Head Start Family Childcare.
Your workdays will be filled with educating young minds, laughter, art, stories, hugs and so much more. Go home each day having had fun at work and feeling like you made a difference!
Implement curriculum that provides an inclusive learning environment allowing for children’s development based on individual need. Provide a daily routine and prepare a weekly lesson plan ensuring all required elements are incorporated.
Pay: $24.61 - $26.88
Schedule: Non-Exempt, Day Shift, Monday – Friday, full time, year-round with four one-week layoffs spread over the program year.

Requirements
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- Assignment Specific Qualification Requirements: Minimum education and credential requirements depend on the employee’s assigned program option and classroom age group. Employees must meet all applicable Head Start Program Performance Standards, Minnesota DCYF licensing requirements, and MAHUBE-OTWA requirements. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood is preferred but not required for teacher positions.
Early Head Start – Infant/Toddler: Must meet applicable Early Head Start education and credential requirements, including a minimum of a CDA or comparable credential, and have been trained or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
Head Start – Preschool: Must meet applicable Head Start education and credential requirements for preschool teaching staff including an AA or bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education, or equivalent coursework.
- Grade Level Based on Education/Credentials:
- Knowledge of early childhood development and the ability to implement developmentally appropriate practice in an early childhood classroom are essential.
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and DCYF child-care licensing requirements and the ability to operate the center in accordance with these standards.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence and perform basic math.
- Ability to apply common-sense solutions in standard and nonstandard situations. Ability to professionally express/exchange ideas and instructions to clients, the public, or other employees.
- Ability to work in a positive and cooperative manner with staff and parents. Must effectively and spontaneously deal with typical and unexpected preschool classroom situations.
- Ability to handle emergency situations with young children and parents.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Must honor private/confidential information.
- Intermediate computer skills, including using email, the internet, computer files, and databases and performing data entry.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- First Aid/CPR required.
- Must successfully complete all background studies and checks required by Minnesota law and federal Head Start standards.
