Department Introduction
The Non-Volatile NAND Design Engineering group is responsible for the design and optimization of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits enabling advanced NAND Flash memory products. Through close collaboration with multifunctional teams, the group develops scalable, manufacturable, and reliable solutions across technology nodes.
Internship Overview
As a Logic Design Intern in the NVEG organization at Micron Semiconductor Italia, you will join an experienced engineering team and gain practical exposure to the definition, implementation, verification, and silicon validation of NAND Flash logic features. With guidance from your mentor and colleagues, you will contribute to selected project activities while developing your knowledge of digital design, verification methodologies, and semiconductor product development.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the development and verification of selected digital logic blocks under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Assist in translating system or firmware requirements into clear design and verification tasks.
- Contribute to RTL coding, simulation, test development, debugging, and documentation activities.
- Analyze simulation or validation results, identify issues, and discuss findings with the project team.
- Collaborate with architecture, firmware, analog, physical design, and test teams to understand interfaces and integration requirements.
- Learn and apply engineering tools, scripting, and responsible AI-assisted approaches to improve productivity while validating outputs and protecting intellectual property.
- Present progress and technical learnings to the team and actively seek feedback to support professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of digital logic design, computer architecture, or electronic systems.
- Academic or project experience with a hardware description language, such as Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
- Familiarity with simulation, programming, or scripting tools gained through coursework, laboratory activities, or personal projects.
- Curiosity, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an international, multifunctional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or project experience in digital design, verification, semiconductor devices, or memory technologies.
- Familiarity with Python or another scripting language.
- Exposure to verification methodologies, FPGA development, physical design concepts, or laboratory validation.
- Interest in NAND Flash, non-volatile memories, or semiconductor product development.
For internships positions in Italy, Micron could pay Eur 900 – Eur 1200 per month, and will grant, in addition meal vouchers for each day worked onsite. The internship allowance is determined based on the highest level of education already completed at the start of the internship, regardless of gender and of any other factor protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
For working students positions in Germany Micron estimates it could pay from 15 Eur (gross) per hour. The exact amount is determined based on education and level of experience.
