Maintenance Technician
Job Type: Full time
Shift Schedule: M-F, 6a- 2:30p w/ OT
Salary: $22.00/hour
** Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.
Key Responsibilities:
Operation and Upkeep
- Monitor the daily operation of the Wet Electrostatic Precipitators to ensure performance meets Department of Environmental Quality permit requirements
- Monitor water flow, clean strainer baskets and spray nozzles to ensure proper water flow
- Monitor flush cycles and add caustic to flush water on a routine basis
- Maintain WESP containments and properly dispose of all by-products daily
- Clean internal areas of the WESP during maintenance shutdowns or as required
- Other accountabilities as required
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Remove, replace, or repair piping, valves, hoses, centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pumps or other related equipment
- Monitor operational performance and troubleshoot defects as required
- Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical failures with minimal maintenance assistance
- Inspect, diagnose and repair performance limiting factors within the WESP system. (i.e. probe alignment, insulator degradation, etc)
Communication and Recordkeeping
- Maintain clear communication with supervisor and with production regarding equipment status and performance
- Provide proper record keeping, documentation, and information for, but not limited to:
- DEQ Permit requirements (Title V permit)
- Caustic usage
- Daily operational performance logs
- Confined Space entry permits
- Maintain WESP consumable parts, and supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required with vocational training highly preferred
- Must be familiar with the scope and limitation of DEQ permitting requirements.
- Experience with plumbing or pipefitting is preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical concepts.
- Project planning/implementation/oversight.
- Experience conducting Preventative, Corrective, and Predictive Maintenance.
- Must have ability to read blueprints and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Requires experience using all forms of power and hand tools.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs daily, stand and work for long periods of time, climb ladders, work at high elevations, and in small, confined spaces.
- Must have computer experience and be proficient with Microsoft Office/ CMMS
- Ability to immediately understand and react to verbal safety commands, audio alarms, and written hazard alerts in English in a Manufacturing setting.
- Proficient in English to accurately read, interpret, and execute equipment lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) protocols and machine operation manuals.
- Sufficient English verbal skills to clearly and instantly report machine malfunctions, near-misses, or unsafe floor conditions to supervisors and team members.
- This role operates in the immediate vicinity of fast-moving, heavy automated equipment. Clear, real-time communication and strict adherence to English-language safety signage are mandatory for workplace safety.
