What You’ll Do:


As a Toolsetter/Operator – Cold Heading you’ll be part of our Stanley Engineered Fastening team located in Hopkinsville, KY. You’ll get to: 

 

  • Maintaining Tool Crib inventory and records. Notify necessary people when tooling needs to be reordered. Materially placing physical goods in tool crib and routing tooling to appropriate engineer as necessary.
  • Audit tooling: Inspect tools randomly or if suspected issue. Check dimensions and print notes to ensure tooling accuracy. Spot-check cabinets to ensure tools are in correct location and quantity is accurate. Perform annual physical inventory to ensure JDE matches quantity on hand.
  • Interactive and issue supplier 8D’s and request daily updates until topic is closed. Maintain files to store completed 8D’s. Pull 2D Drawings from IDCS Document control system for tools to be re-ordered.
  • Lead CribMaster activities: Pull and monitor data, restock storage units, authorize and add users to CribMaster system to use vending cabinet, changing locations if necessary, etc. Review, monitor, and validate CribMaster perishable tooling. Remove low-usage and replace with higher-usage items.
  • Track, monitor, and record durability and tool life usage on high volume and critical tools. Compare usage and vendor sourced to determine best practices.
  • Pairing co-dependent tooling: Place near each other in the cabinets, match before tools are withdrawn from cabinet.
  • Clean, review, and repair tooling sets just off the machine for damage, wear, etc. and verify OK to be returned to tool crib. Clean worn/used tools. Track tool life of trial tools.
  • Sort scrap tooling: Separate carbide, identify tools that can be reused or sent for recoating versus scrapping.
  • 5S housekeeping: Organize applicable storage units as the business needs progress.
  • Computer experience with internal inventory tracking systems and Microsoft Office at intermediate level (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Written and verbal professional communications internal and external.
  • Tracking outside sources. Issue purchase orders and follow up with vendors.
  • Maintain matrix on vendors/sources.
  • Attend Gemba meetings

Safety: perform safe work practices:

  • Communicate Behavior Based Safety
  • Wear proper PPE.
  • Identify, report and resolve safety risks/hazards.
  • Support and maintain 6-S 360 principles throughout.

Quality: perform and build quality parts/products to ensure specifications are met

  • Identify and work collaboratively to resolve non-conformances.
  • Support and work collaboratively to initiate and follow through with corrective actions.
  • Diagnose and problem solve operational deficiencies.
  • Check completed work for hardness and visually inspect as required. 

Lean manufacturing principles:


  • Participate with lean initiatives to make continuous improvements in the department (6S projects, 6S 360 and SMED events)
  • Communicate and follow work instructions.
  • Ensure FIFO at operational levels.
  • Team collaboration to ensure equipment uptime and efficiencies.
