POSITION OVERVIEW: The Paralegal serves as the primary operational resource for the Legal Department and reports directly to the General Counsel for Mobis North America. The role manages legal intake, contract and matter workflows, labor and employment support, immigration administration, insurance and risk management support and department reporting. The role supports automotive manufacturing and sales operations while preserving attorney control over legal advice, strategy, regulatory interpretations, settlements, and material risk determinations.
REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Legal Intake
• Administer a single legal intake process, classify matters, capture business owners and deadlines, assign priorities, and maintain current-status reporting.
• Maintain contract and matter repositories, naming conventions, calendars, templates, and standard operating procedures.
• Coordinate signatures, approvals, executed-document storage, renewal and notice tracking, legal invoices, outside-counsel engagement records, and budget data.
• Prepare periodic workload, deadline, risk, and service-level reports for the General Counsel.
Commercial Contracts
• Manage intake, first-pass review support, routing, execution, and closeout for NDAs, purchase agreements, sales agreements, service agreements, vendor agreements, subscriptions, transportation and logistics agreements, tooling documents, and other approved contract types.
• Maintain approved forms, clause libraries, approval evidence, signature records, and executed agreements.
• Track effective dates, renewals, termination rights, notice deadlines, and outstanding approvals.
• Identify nonstandard terms, missing approvals, operational conflicts, and potential commercial exposure for escalation.
Immigration & Global Mobility
• Coordinate employment-based immigration intake with employees, managers, Human Resources, and approved immigration counsel.
• Maintain visa and petition trackers, work-authorization records, document checklists, expiration calendars, filing deadlines, and reminder controls.
• Coordinate questionnaires, support letters, signatures, filing packages, travel documentation, dependent matters, and counsel invoices.
• Escalate possible status lapses, late filings, government requests, denials, audits, site visits, job or worksite changes, or other material immigration risk.
Insurance, Claims, Litigation & Risk Management
• Coordinate with brokers, carriers, Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, EHS, Security, and business owners on renewals and claims.
• Support claim intake, tender, reservation-of-rights tracking, loss runs, insurance audits, and outside-counsel coordination.
• Review contractual insurance requirements against approved standards and escalate coverage gaps, exclusions, disputed coverage, or significant uninsured exposure.
• Support warranty claims, recalls, chargebacks, quality disputes, nonconforming-goods issues, supply interruptions, payment disputes, litigation holds, document collections, and chronologies.
Compliance, Investigations, Privacy & Records
• Coordinate investigation scheduling, evidence collection, file integrity, chronologies, action items, and privileged files.
• Administer compliance calendars, ethics matters, policy records, training records, certifications, and internal-audit support.
• Coordinate privacy requests, records-retention activities, legal holds, preservation notices, and document-disposition controls.
• Maintain investigation, compliance, privacy, and records-management trackers and status reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent combination of education and relevant legal-support experience.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, contract-management, labor and employment, immigration, compliance, insurance, or legal-operations function.
- Demonstrated experience managing confidential records, critical deadlines, multiple concurrent matters, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong writing, proofreading, document-management, organizational, and Microsoft 365 skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and an accredited paralegal credential.
- Automotive, manufacturing, OEM, Tier supplier, purchasing, sales, logistics, quality, EHS, facilities, insurance, labor relations, or supply-chain experience.
- Experience with collective bargaining, grievances, arbitration, immigration counsel, corporate governance, insurance programs, litigation support, legal holds, and outside-counsel administration support.
- Experience with contract-lifecycle or matter-management technology and legal dashboards.

Role Boundaries and Escalation:
This role performs substantive and administrative legal support under the direction of the General Counsel and does not independently provide legal advice, commit the company to a bargaining or settlement position, direct an investigation, interpret regulations for the business, or approve material legal exceptions. The employee must promptly escalate threatened litigation, government or agency contact, organizing activity, work stoppages, unfair-labor-practice or employment charges, immigration status risk, recalls or serious quality events, reportable safety or environmental matters, disputed insurance coverage, uninsured exposure, lease defaults, data incidents, executive-sensitive investigations, and other material business exposure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- A typical work week is 40 hours a week.
- Working hours for employees are flexible with a typical day starting between 7am-9am Monday-Friday.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
