Description
Met-Con, Inc. is seeking an experienced QC Inspector to support our structural steel fabrication team on 2nd shift. This position is responsible for conducting in-process and final inspections to ensure fabricated structural steel meets applicable quality standards, approved shop drawings, and project specifications in an AISC-certified facility.
Please note: This position is based in Cocoa, Florida, not Orlando. Candidates must be able to commute to the Cocoa facility.
Daily Responsibilities

Perform and document daily inspections of fabricated structural steel in accordance with applicable AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.

Conduct in-process and final inspections of fabricated materials.

Verify dimensional layouts and part placement against shop drawings.

Ensure fabricated materials meet approved shop drawings and project specifications.

Identify, document, and assist with the resolution of non-conforming work.

Work with production teams to address quality concerns and maintain production standards.

Participate in annual AISC quality control audits.

Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure thorough documentation.

Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen quality and fabrication processes.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
-
3-5 years of experience in structural steel layout, fabrication, or quality inspection.

Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and construction plans.

Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with production personnel.

Ability to identify quality issues and document findings accurately.

Must be able to work 2nd shift at our Cocoa, Florida facility.
