Legal Counsel - Land Acquisition/Regulatory and Compliance

About the Role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel – Regulatory and Compliance to provide legal guidance and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will support project development, regulatory permitting, contract management, and corporate compliance while working closely with internal teams, government agencies, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable Philippine laws and regulations relevant to renewable energy and power generation.

• Manage regulatory permits, licenses, filings, and approvals required for project development and operations.

• Coordinate with government agencies, including the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and relevant local government units.

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including land lease agreements, EPC contracts, power purchase agreements, and other commercial agreements.

• Provide legal support for renewable energy project development, land acquisition, and stakeholder engagement.

• Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

• Monitor changes in energy regulations and ensure timely implementation of compliance requirements.

• Support corporate governance, legal documentation, due diligence, and internal compliance initiatives.

• Coordinate with external legal counsel on specialized legal matters and regulatory proceedings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

• Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing.

• At least 3–5 years of relevant legal experience in regulatory compliance, corporate law, energy, infrastructure, or project development.

• Experience in renewable energy, power generation, or utilities is highly preferred.

• Knowledge of Philippine energy regulations, regulatory permitting, and environmental compliance requirements.

• Experience in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.

• Strong legal research, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
