We are seeking an experienced Meter to Cash Consultant to support a regional water utility through the review, design and improvement of its end to end meter to cash processes.

This opportunity is available as either a long term contract or permanent position, offering flexibility for the right candidate.

The role is suited to someone who understands the operational realities of regional water corporations and can bridge the gap between business requirements, customer experience and technology.

We are not looking for someone tied to a particular billing platform. We need a consultant who understands how water utilities operate, can identify what needs to change and can help shape a practical, sustainable future state.

The Opportunity

Working closely with business stakeholders, operational teams and technology specialists, you will assess existing processes, identify improvement opportunities and contribute to the development of a modern meter to cash operating model.

Your focus will be on business outcomes rather than promoting or implementing a particular technology solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess current meter to cash processes, from meter reading and consumption management through to billing, payments, collections and customer account management.
• Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and requirements.
• Identify process inefficiencies, integration gaps and opportunities for automation.
• Develop future state processes and business requirements to support billing modernisation.
• Provide independent, platform agnostic advice on potential solutions and approaches.
• Support the development of a roadmap for business and technology transformation.
• Consider regulatory obligations, customer service expectations and the operational requirements of regional water utilities.
• Work collaboratively with business and technical teams to ensure recommendations are practical and achievable.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• Demonstrated experience working with Australian regional water corporations or regional water utilities.
• Strong understanding of the complete meter to cash lifecycle within the water sector.
• Experience in billing transformation, business process improvement or customer management initiatives.
• Proven ability to conduct current state assessments and develop future state operating models.
• Strong business analysis, stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
• Understanding of the regulatory, operational and customer service challenges facing regional water providers.
• Ability to work independently and provide commercially sound, technology neutral recommendations.

Highly Regarded

• Experience supporting billing system replacement or modernisation programs.
• Knowledge of metering, customer information systems, CRM and financial system integrations.
• Experience developing business cases, transformation roadmaps or solution evaluation criteria.
• Exposure to multiple utility billing platforms.
