Overview

Position Focus:

Serve as Projections Engineer for Yale Baroque Opera Project.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: executing all aspects of the approved projections design, attend regularly scheduled production meetings, meet stated production deadlines, respond to communications in a timely manner, provide estimates, ensure vendor expenditures do not exceed stated budget, oversee/manage projection load in crews ensuring safety throughout, oversee/manage all aspects of projection engineering, installation and removal, coordinate with designers, directors, production team members, and outside vendors, ensure best practices are followed by all crew members, be familiar with and employ all relevant safety practices consistent with Yale, Undergraduate Production, and industry standards, attend all necessary load-in, and strike activities.

• Knowledge of theater health and safety best practices and concerns and ability to identify and correct potential hazards.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Assume primary responsibility for safety and support of designated undergraduate production activities. 2. Participate in development and implementation of production policies that ensure safe working conditions and high organizational and artistic standards for undergraduate production. 3. Provide students and faculty with day-to-day guidance regarding production activities and compliance with safety regulations. 4. Coordinate with staff in safety offices at Yale, including Undergraduate Production and Environmental Health and Safety. 5. Train, mentor, and supervise students during supervised production activities. 6. Maintain or advise on maintenance for designated theater equipment and facilities. 7. Lead several technical theater workshops per year. 8. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in theater and a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of education or experience.
