Description
Working within the Group Sustainability team, this role is responsible for ensuring the systems, processes, controls and activities used to collect, validate, assure, analyse, report and continuously improve sustainability data across Breedon Group.
The role is responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy, integrity and auditability of sustainability information reported internally and externally. As the Group’s specialist for sustainability data, the postholder will administer Enablon, undertake ESG data assurance and site audits, maintain robust reporting processes and controls, coordinate disclosures and assessments such as CDP and EcoVadis, and support performance reporting and analysis.
Working closely with operational sites and functional teams across Great Britain, Ireland and the USA, the role will strengthen data quality, reporting controls and assurance processes in support of the Group's sustainability strategy, regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the system administrator for Enablon and other sustainability reporting tools, providing user support and maintaining reporting processes.
- Collect, validate, analyse and consolidate sustainability and ESG data from across the Group.
- Monitor data submissions and resolve missing, incomplete or inaccurate information with data owners.
- Investigate data anomalies and maintain data quality controls, validation checks and assurance processes.
- Maintain KPI definitions, calculation methodologies, emission factors, reporting boundaries and supporting documentation.
- Maintain audit trails, evidence files and records supporting sustainability metrics and disclosures.
- Produce sustainability reports, dashboards, KPI summaries and analysis to support decision-making.
- Conduct sustainability data reviews, assurance checks and site audits to verify compliance with reporting requirements and data collection procedures.
- Identify reporting risks, control weaknesses and improvement opportunities, tracking corrective actions to completion.
- Support internal and external assurance activities through preparation of evidence, documentation and responses to information requests.
- Prepare data and supporting evidence for sustainability disclosures, ESG ratings and assessments, including CDP, EcoVadis and Annual Report reporting, and identify enhancement opportunities.
- Support reporting aligned to relevant frameworks and standards, including ISSB, SECR, TCFD, TNFD and other emerging requirements.
- Support sustainability strategy, target-setting and improvement projects through data analysis and performance insights.
- Monitor and report progress against the Group’s sustainability targets, commitments and initiatives, tracking deliverables, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and communicating performance to stakeholders.
- Maintain and improve sustainability reporting systems, processes, controls, dashboards and reporting tools, including opportunities for automation and digitalisation.
- Provide training and support to sustainability data contributors, building effective relationships with operational sites and functional teams across the Group.
- Support sustainability awareness, engagement and training initiatives where required.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential -
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Data Management, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience collecting, managing and reporting data within a corporate, operational or regulatory environment.
- Experience working with sustainability, ESG or environmental, operational or compliance data.
- Experience investigating and resolving data quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience conducting audits, assurance reviews, inspections or compliance assessments
- Evidence preparing data, evidence and documentation for reporting, assurance of verification activities.
- Understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks, disclosures and ESG ratings.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, data analysis and reporting skills.
- Experience working independently and taking ownership of technical reporting or data management processes.

Desirable -
- Experience using Enablon or similar sustainability reporting systems.
- Knowledge of ISSB, SECR, CDP, EcoVadis, TC FD, TNFD or other sustainability reporting frameworks.
- Internal auditor qualification or equivalent audit experience.
- Experience supporting external assurance or certification programmes
- Experience using Power BI or other data visualisation tools.
- Experience of using AI or automation to improve data handling processes.
- Experience within construction materials, manufacturing, industrial or heavy industry sectors.
